I download power data from a PT, then upload it to trainingpeaks.com. Our Tuesday night TT requires an 20min ride out to the course, followed by a 30min warm up, then the actual TT, then the easy ride home. Should I only be using the data from the TT for analytical purposes in cyclingpeaks and trainingpeaks (remove all the data prior and after the TT)?
If you start a new lap for each section it will show up in Cycling peaks. You can make notes (lap times, avg pwr, avg speed, weather conditions, whatever) in Cycling peaks and when you transfer that workout to Training peaks those notes will transfer. What I can’t understand is why those laps don’t show up when you transfer the data to Training peaks. It shouldn’t be too hard to display a lap marker even if the data is not separated.
I would use all of the data and just break it as someone has mentioned. Then you can closely examine each aspect of your ride and determine what you need to do next time out. At least that is how I do it.
It does kinda skew the avg. power/kg graph. Even though my FTP is higher than at the beginning of the season, due to doing longer rides ( and thus lower avg power ) it looks like I’m going backwards if you go by that graph.
Is there a way to change the data to be peak 20 or peak 60 avg power / kg? That’d be a more accurate picture I think.
I’m not sure what you’re trying to do here. Like trukweaz posted, the entire time you are recording, you’re training, even if it’s just the warm up and cool down. Your TSS for the entire workout is going to reflect your entire workout.
If you want the TSS for just your TT to show in Training Peaks: Create lap markers at the beginning and end, then when you upload the data click on that lap and it will give you the TSS and intensity factor for just that lap. Enter that information in the notes field in the journal view and they will appear in the notes field when you upload the workout file to Training peaks, this is assuming you are transferring the data using Cycling Peaks and not the upload in Training Peaks. Or you just type the lap information in on your daily log in Training Peaks.
If you just want the data for the TT and nothing else, why not put the head unit in your pocket until you get ready to start and then take it off when you finish the TT or clear the unit right before the start. I still don’t understand why you just want the TT to be reflected on the performance management chart. Why not override the TSS for the entire ride, then you could really look like a hero.
Maybe Dr. Coggan will come back and he can explain it to you.
