There seems to have been a fair number of posts comparing the 2 recently - thought this was something our sport could learn from cycling. Received my race notice for the Seattle - Portland ride yesterday and paragraph 2 reads as follows:
Re - selling your STP Registration. If you are unable to participate you are free to sell or give your registration or rider packet to anyone you choose. We need the recipient to complete and sign a registration form and mail it to us with a signed note from you confirming the transfer. If you want the packet mailed directly to the new owner, we must receive the request by June 22. Sorry no refunds!
This from a race that will limit entries to 8000 (race is mid july) - i find this a refreshing change from the absolute BS we get about this in our sport - would appear it is that simple after all!!! In the age of races selling out a year in advance who the hell knows what they will be capable of doing 12months from now anyways!!!
