I’ll be in Italy next October for three weeks, on my honeymoon. We’ll be travelling all over (with the exception of Northern Italy), and while she’s asked (okay, told) me not to bring my bike, I wouldn’t mind visiting or seeing some good cycling stuff. Anyone have any ideas? For instance, where is Sidi headquartered in Italy? Any good races on, that late in the season?

Madonna del Ghisallo (Italy)
Madonna del Ghisallo is the patroness of cyclists’, so proclaimed by Pope Pius XII during the 1949 Giro d’Italia. This tiny church located on a hilltop in the northern Italian hamlet of Magreglio near Lago di Lecco, has become a functional religious attraction and cycling museum, filled with artifacts, photos and other totems from cycling history. The greatest riders in the world like Coppi and Bartali have given their bicycles and jerseys to the church by way of thanks for winning races.
Gotta see the Madonna di Ghisallo chapel. Its 10km up the hill from the villa of Bellagio. Look on the map of Lombardia region… Bellagio is at the northern tip of that point on Lake Como that points right towards Switzerland. Its North East a very short ways from the villa of Como. And ~50km direct north of Milano. I’ve also heard that the cycling museum that they’re building next door to the chapel is complete. I’ve been there once; going back this Sept. Absolutely beautiful. Also road cycling world champs are just a short ways away in Verona 28.Sep to 03.Oct. Enjoy!
