Cycling Shoes - Advice

I’m in the market for a new pair of cycling shoes - at this point I’m going to be buying road shoes not tri specific ones. I need a little feedback. What are your favorites and why?

I have had Shimano SPD-SL’s for a year. All of a sudden, they have started bleeding blue dye, and all my socks are stained. Also, the tongue on one of the shoes shifts over and interferes with my ankle movement.

due to my fat feet I’m unfortunately not wearing them anymore but my faves were the DMT ultimax carbons. They hold your heel & achilles beautifully and they look badass.

I’m happy with my shimano tr-01’s for now.

YEah… Shimano TR-01’s seem pretty good and they sure have style. There’s a bunch of them in eBay…

I was in the market for new cycling shoes about 4 months ago. I had decided to buy Carnacs because of the great deal my LBS had, but I found that my skinny feet only fit in SIDI’s. Get what fit’s best.

I’ve been in the Carnac Quartz for 2 years now and I love 'em. The 4-strap system is a bit of a pain in T1, but it’s not like the couple extra seconds are going to cost me an AG victory or prize money. I use them with Speedplay Zeros, and the sole is plenty stiff, even with the small pedal platform. Not to mention that the yellow/black/silver color scheme is pimp-a-rific. For comparison, I wear size 12, regular width in Asics running shoes.

They don’t stretch much so get what fits your feet the closest without causing any pressure points. Go try them on after running or exercising so your feet are a little tender and swollen. It makes you more sensitive to fit problems. I had a pair of Northwaves that lasted a long time and currently 2 pair of Sidi’s T1 and Lightning which I like. The T1 is super slick on the bottom but I leave them in my pedals so that doesn’t matter.
