Cycling shoes (3)

My cycling shoes died yesterday and I had to resort to duct taping the right one together so I could ride. I have always had a hard time finding shoes because I have a very narrow foot. In the past I have had Shimano but I haven’t really been satisfied with them, so I am looking for recommendations.

I went to my LBS today and tried on some Mavic shoes that felt nice but I know nothing about them. Does anyone ride in them? I am going to try on some Sidi and Specialized shoes in the next couple of days. I am planning on getting road and triathlon shoes this time.

You are a perfect candidate for Sidi.

Sidi’s definitely run on the narrow side and seem to last forever. But the Mavic’s are very nice too. I have a friend who is loving his right now. I found a good review of the Mavic Zxellium here:

What size shoe do you wear? I just ordered up some Lake Cycling shoes that should be here today. They carry both regular and wide versions. But, I might have a pair of Sidi’s for sale in a week or so…

I concur. I use Sidi T2.6 for races and they are definitely on the narrow side of the spectrum.

Adidas shoes are narrow.

I have a size 13 narrow and ordered the specialized pro shoes in a narrow. They fit great.

Adidas owns salomon which owns mavic - I wouldn’t be surprised if the mavic shoes are a newer version of those old adidas cycling shoes that t-mobile used to use.

Oh and to actually answer your question: Sidi’s are great for those of us who have narrow feet.

i had the shimano TR50’s for a years then tried the Adidas (which is basically the same as the mavics b/c they are owned by Adidas). the adidas/mavics killed the side of my feet b/c it was too narrow. i ended up going back to shimano, but upgraded to the tr70’s. Don’t know if it’s my feet, but the shimano’s just fit so much better. I also use an e-soles insole which helps alot.

i’ve also tried on sidi, specialized, and bontrager but they seem too narrow for me too.

Anyone try the LOUIS GARNEAU CARBON HRS SHOES…?

I am planning on getting road and triathlon shoes this time.

Or you could just get the Specialized S-Works Shoes and go with one pair of shoes and have the best of both worlds!

the LG carbon HRS have a heat moldable heel and toe, so that can help with the fit. I did for me, especially in the toe box where I like them a bit wider. Got 'em in black, sweet shoe.

Thanks for the all the info. I am going to try on some Sidis tomorrow.

How do the Sidi’s fit compared to Shimano’s? I wear size 42 in Shimano’s.

Umm, not sure, never wore the Shimano’s, but others have said the Sidi’s run narrow. Well, my Sidi’s won’t work for ya then…They’re 46’s.

I like Sidi the best, they tend to last longer than other shoes. I had one pair or Nike and they didn’t last at all.
