Cycling shoe problem

I bought some DMT shoes some time ago, and upon sinking the shorter of the two sizes of screws in (speedplay cleat) the screw has pierced the forefoot. Even after taking the screw back out, the material that makes the insole is propped up so it feels I have a thorn on my forefoot while pedaling. These shoes ruined? DMT wont respond to my questions. Any sugestions?

Take them back to where you bought them. Let the retailer provide a solution and deal with DMT. Never heard of this happening before.

If all else fails, you might be able to sand down the offending nubbin then seal it with a drop of epoxy (or super glue). Then, find shorter screws or use a washer.

People do this all the time.

First thing - you know this is your fault, right? You f-ed up, made a stupid mistake, and realize that DMT has absolutely no, not even a shred of, culpability - right?

Always, always, mic the depth of something like this - or at least be very careful when screwing in - but you know this now. This is an easy fix…

To fix this -

1- take the screw out.

2- take the midsole out.

3 - press the dent out of the midsole as much as you can (pull the tounge back and carefully tap the dent down with a blunted brad-set or section of metal rod. Be very careful - you don’t want to overmuscle this and break the outsole.)

4 - smooth the remainder of the dent down with a piece of sandpaper (150 grit or so…) wrapped around a small piece of wood.

5 - re-insert the proper size screw

or -

take the shoe to a cobbler and let them fix it for a couple of bucks.

oh yeah, Im well aware it’s my fault, I was looking for a little help from DMT however. Thanks for the input, I think I will see what the local covvler can do first.
