Cycling shoe cleat setting: Where is yours?

I find it confusing looking at the cleat placement of my shimano shoes. I know I need to get my shoe set up so that the ball of my foot is directly over top of the pedal spindal, but when you look at the shoe upside down, and you move the cleat, rather than the shoe, and I try to imagine my foot moving forward or back, the whole thing makes my brain hurt. So, just to double check, is your cleat pushed all the way forward (towards the toe box), all the way back(towards the heal), or somewhere in the middle.

Is there a “best position” for the shoe cleat to maximize power?

I’m not sure there is one corrext answer but mine is all the way back.

Mark, with a sharpie, the middle of the ball of your foot on the shoe shole while it is on. Then fiddle with your cleat trying to center it to that mark or just aft (toward the heel)

“I’m not sure there is one corrext answer but mine is all the way back.”

Same here.

Doh!

thanks. Great idea
