Cycling peaks and mac computers

Does anyone know how to get cycling peaks to work on a mac. I have installed parallels and installed cycling peaks, but I can’t get it to download my information from my training sessions. Thanks.
Rich

What sort of data (from where) are you trying to send to Cycling Peaks? Any additional detials? What sort of connection? Serial or USB?

I know a couple people who have this problem. They have Powertaps though, so they use the Mac version of Poweragent to download from the PT, and the open the power file in CyclingPeaks in Parallels.

Something to do with USB access/mapping from inside Parallels.

I still have a PC that I use entirely for CP and running my Computrainer, so I get around the problem that way, otherwise I’m a Mac guy for everything else.

Are you using parallels 3.0? I have this same problem with 2.0, not sure if the new version helped to correct this.

Can you download in Boot Camp?

trying to download ride information to cycling peaks usb connection. get a message com port not avaiable.

yes, I think the problem is the usb connection.

using parallels 3.0. it seems to be that the computer is not seeing the usb connection, I think.

I think I can. A beta version is available. How would this help?

You may be having the same issue I had/am having with TP Device Agent. Here is what was passed on to me re TP Device Agent:

The folks at PowerTap began using a new USB driver with the introduction of PowerAgent 7.1. The new driver can not co-exist on OS X with the USB/Serial driver used by previous versions of PowerAgent (which Device Agent for Mac requires).

So, the options at this moment include:

    • contact PowerTap’s Customer Service and ask for a link to reinstall the previous version of PowerAgent (allowing you to run PowerAgent and Device Agent for Mac). *
    • Or, ask for a link to install the previous driver and no longer use PowerAgent. *
    • Or, keep using PowerAgent 7.1 and manually export the files and manually upload to the daily log.*

Rich, so you went with the Mac…This is why I was forced to by another PC for a new machine a few months back.

Good luck man.

I did go mac. Happy I did, bit of a learning curve. Got the cycling peaks to work now!

Make sure if you are ever down in FL to let me know so we can get together.

are you downloading using a PT? like others have said i used the powertap mac software to download the software, i had a sequence i had to go through to get the software to recognize the PT was there. I believe it was open the software, plug in the USB cradle, turn on the PT and plug it in. after that i created a folder in my home folder for PT files and shared that folder to parallels and open the files in cyclingpeaks.

if your trying to only use the cyclingpeaks download are you mounting the usb-serial device, by clicking devices → USB-> the name of your cradle before opening up cyclingpeaks.

I have since moved on to an SRM and have no issues with the SRM software or cyclingpeaks in parallels. i am running os x 10.4.10 with parallels 3.0 build 4560 with cyclingpeaks 2.1 build 69.

I think I have it figured out. Seems there is a driver in the cycleopc 7.1 software that has enabled me to download info right to cycling peaks and into power agent on the mac.

Do you have any idea of how to get your old power files from an old computer to new? I know there is a migration tool, but I think that is just for importing when you upgrade software.

Thank you everyone for your help!
