anyone on the board from the Quad Cities? May be up there this weekend and need some advice on a good 50 - 60 mile route.

Depends on where you’re starting. I rode out to DeWitt and back a couple of times while I lived there, and that was a good route. Muscatine and back along the river’s a decent ride, too, albeit a bit flat. Look out for the dead snakes. Can’t remember the exact road numbers, as I’ve blocked that year-and-a-half from my memory.
Watch your back, though. The roads have no shoulders and the motorists aren’t patient with anything that doesn’t burn gas.

I used to ride with those guys in the mid 90s.
I was up there in '08 for work and had to get a long ride in. The Illinois side has a trail starting in Rock Island that goes north along the river farther than you will need to ride. Its a combination of trail and road. The trail parts were never crowded when I rode it. Did get lost off of it a few times but easy enough to find your way back on (just find the river).
