SRAM: I think it’s fantastic. It’s engaging. I like the way it was filmed. It’s the standout for me.
Cervelo: Not so great. I understand they’re trying to make certain points with the wind tunnel one, but the others, submitted on their website, have poor sound quality and editing. Not a fan. If they only picked one to show I would vote for the “flattens the road” commercial.
Specialized: Levi’s were better. I wonder if they tried to stick a microphone in Bettini’s shower? I can see why they would want to sell bikes by using Boonen in Belgium, but why put him on a TT bike for an add in the US? I wonder who’s going to buy more Transitions, triathletes or road racers / TT guys? Why not use a triathlete even if it is the TdF? And Gerolsteiner is still using Walsers!
MissionBay Multisport: We get these in Chicago because it’s a local store. The commercial itself looks like Competitvecyclist.com’s website, but Troy does well as the voice-over.
Saab: I know, not a bike company, but I can’t take, “Born from Jets” too much longer. I don’t buy it and it sounds dumb.
I think the tour will forever be remembered as pre/post Tivo. If you can afford race entry fees, and you enjoy the tour, you must buy a Tivo. We may even be able to start a little collection here for you. Even watching the circa 2006 Saab “Born from Jets” commercials at 4x speed still gives me the shakes.
FWIW though, that Cervelo ad with the head on, pre-sunrise shot with the one headlight on/one headlight flashing, just looks evil…and makes me smile.
I like the Miller High Life commercials. Not sure about the ultimate fighting promos, do they really think TDF fans will wanna watch that stuff? On the other hand it is kinda like a mass swim start.
I do have a DVR. I’ll have to start using that. I do NEED a flat screen though and would appreciate any donations you may wish to contribute. I accept Paypal.
I would fall of my couch if Mercedes used the tag-line, “Born from Tractors”…
I saw a BMC add today too, it sucked much more than Cervelo’s adds.
Agree, the Miller commercials are really good. Especially like the $11.50 hamburger one. Kinda interesting they’d advertise for TDF. Seems more geared to NASCAR.
I hate the Miller ads (except the one with the cute gal). If I owned a store I’d kick that guys ass for taking product I paid for and am trying to sell out of my store. I’d shove that Miller High Life right up his ass, the arragant prick. Thinks he can tell me how much I can charge for a hamburger
The Ultimate fighting I don’t mind as I do watch from time to time.
The Saab commercial was ok when I first saw it. Last year. Give it a break already.
The Cervelo ads are ok, not a fan, not a hater.
I kinda like the Specialized ones.
Love the Miller commercials. The ultimate fighting shows have peaked my interest. (And there have been thread on ultimate fighting regularly in the LR.)
Favorite Cervelo commercial is FABULOUS FABIAN! (was there any doubt???) Everytime I see the one with Phil in the windtunnel, I laugh out loud when he gets to the end…“a-boot”.
Specialized…meh.
Love the SRAM commercial.
Locally, we have a commercial for one of the great century rides that is coming up in early August.

I started actually as a producer / editor for a Philly TV station, so that combined with my marketing background gives me of course a big opinion
Specialized Bettini, very, very nice indeed (my favorite)
Specialized Tom B, not so good, mostly because of wrong choice of bike
Cervelo Stuart O, nice but not greatly edited, quality is a bit home video
Cervelo Fabian C, he sounds great, quality is a bit home video
Cervelo Consumer video, very entertaining, quality does not matter here.
Cervelo road goes flat, looks goofy, thumbs down
SRAM/Saunier Duval ad, very nice too

I too am sick of the Saab commercials and Petra Nemcova, as hot as she is, that commercial is getting old as well.
