Cycling accident

Short story…I went down Sunday morning on a training ride in a large group. I tucked and rolled when I hit the bike in front of me, and landed on my shoulder and back, with just a small chunk taken out of my knuckles.

Shoulder was rather tight until yesterday, but feels much better this morning. However, I landed on my tool pouch (that was in the jersey pocket) and my lower back still feels pretty tight. I can move around just fine (normal range of motion), and I don’t have any tingling or painful sensations anymore. There is no noticeable swelling, but it’s quite uncomfortable.

I know that asking for “medical” advice over the 'Net isn’t the best. All I’m looking for are suggestions on anything I can do “relax” those muscles. I was icing it until yesterday, until I realized it really wasn’t doing any good. I’ve been taking ibuprofen to reduce the discomfort, but that’s only a temporary measure.

Any thoughts?

Dave

my only thought is that it’s probably deep tissue trauma, which takes time to heal, and it can be very painful. if you can continue to rest for another week you’ll probably see big improvements. if deep water running doesn’t hurt, I would try it.

but, what I really want to say is–steam room, and or hot whirlpool–that could provide you with some relief.

and, if it hurts pretty bad by next week, go see a doc.

Yeah, no needto ice at this point - moist heat will probably treat you better
.

Here’s a thought - quit being a whiney little biatch, stop watching Iron Chef and Good Eats, get your fat ass(and no you are not big boned) off the couch and actually train. Chris J ran a 10k with a broken neck for crying out loud.

BTW I sold the car.

Ed

Yeah…but I put some extra goodies in the trunk from the garage and your room.
