How warm is the water?
Is the kayak course up yet (e.g. buoys)?
Thinking of going up on Saturday for a splash.
It’s all there, been there for 3 weeks near as I can tell. Water was high 50s last weekend, wetsuit perfect. You’ll be elbowing your way through the crowds this weekend I suspect.
If you are in LP this weekend, you better be posting a sub 50 Whiteface Mtn Hillclimb :-). Water was already warm last week for Epicman and the course is all set up.
High 50s? That sounds pretty cold (my friend who I am trying to talk into going does not have a wetsuit). It was 76 for IM last year and that is only 5 weeks away.
I am going to be in LP thurs-sunday. I am going to attack Whiteface on thursday afternoon

I was there all weekend.
Sun was out on friday evening… it was extremely warm… def in the 70s.
On sunday it was cooler, I swam in the am… wetsuit was a good option, but you could swim without one and it wouldn’t phase most people.
It’s beautiful conditions, so enjoy it. All the markings are out on the water.
what is the record time? I will do my best. I am a decent climber.

Good news about the water. I figured it had to be mid 60s at least.
I just got my new Serotta. Nice bike, full Chorus with Record Carbon compact cranks. Light hand-built climbing wheels, Record hubs laced to 28 hole Open Pros and DT Revolution spokes. It probably weighs about 3 pounds less than my old bike (this is not hard since my old bike was 21.5 pounds).
Probably the day before IM (since I will be up to watch you losers) I will take a run at Whiteface again. The ST Record is 58:22 I think. However the ST record only applies for “official” ST events. The true course record is 44:XX although there may be a faster unofficial local record. Recently Murphy’s Law posted a very respectable 56:XX the day before EpicMan.
Any time under 60:00 is considered to be quite worthy (disclaimer: Dev has ridden under 60:00 so it is not that hard;).
