I assume you’re talking about a Kona slot. It depends heavily on what race you’re talking about and exactly how many they allocate. If it is a race like IMFL or IMMoo where people come specifically to qualify a year in advance then there is essentially no chance it will roll down that far. When I did IMFL in 2003 there were 13 slots in M35-39 and none were turned down. However, last year at IMLP, I turned down a slot as did a few others since I was racing in LP just because I hadn’t done the race before and wasn’t planning on a Kona trip in 2006.
