CT eating tires - what could be the cause?

Over the last 3-4 months, I’ve torn through numerous training tires on the Computrainer (I use the Continental Hometrainer tire). Symptoms are all the same a crack on the driveside sidewall. In the past I used to easily get a year and more out of the Hometrainer. What could be the cause? Some thoughts include:

  1. Trainer wheel is a bit untrue - would the wobbling cause this?
  2. Overinflating/underinflating - I try to keep it at 110 psi or so generally but sometimes I get sloppy and the tires are only at 80-90.

Any thoughts would be appreciated. Starting to get expensive replacing tires, way too frequently.

What is your typical rolling resistance?

i try to keep it above 3. i know they say 2.5 or greater but with the rolldown that comes over a 1+ hour session i usually start at over 4 and see it come down to the 3s.

I try to keep it at a 2.5 - 3 and have never had a flat from the CT on normal tires.

not totally an answer to your question, but kinda…

sounds like it has something to do with the CT, b/c i use the same tire nearly daily on my Kurt Kinetic and beat the hell out of it.
it’s tightened down pretty hard, kept at 110psi, and used for hours at a time…never any issues. same one yellow trainer tire the whole time.

The bearings or bushings in the roller may be worn causing an uneven roll
A friend had to send his in to be repaired because it was wabbling
