I read that someone traded in their Trek bicycle and was spotted on a Crumpton riding in Hawaii. I’ve never heard of Crumpton Cycles, are they a niche in Austin? Does anyone own one? Thoughts?
here we go!
I appreciate it, unfortunately Google doesn’t provide results of current Crumpton cycle owners on Slowtwitch and their thoughts on them.
Crumpton makes very expensive but very high quality custom carbon road bikes. They are certainly not aero triathlon frames. So if you want a custom road bike, then sure maybe they should be considered. But I’d never use one of their frames in a triathlon. Well, except maybe in a draft legal event.
For custom TT/Triathlon frames, a better choice would probably be Parlee.
Exactly what I wanted to know, thank you for the input!
Funny. It’s like someone saying they have heard of Honda and Toyota and Chevy but never heard of Ferrari.
Crumpton is one of the few companies that does custom carbon. Others are Serotta, Parlee, Cyfac, Calfee, and Landshark. Buying a custom frame from these companies is just like buying a made to measure steel or titanium frame. It is what you buy when you want the best there is.
Crumpton makes a great frame. Usual wait is four to five months, which is not bad at all. The wait for some of Pegoretti’s frames is two years. Richard Sachs is the better part of a decade but he no longer takes orders from new customers.
Nick Crumpton has a “smoked out” thread on Velocipede Salon. which is a forum for frame builders.
Nick Crumpton makes some of the nicest carbon frames available. If I were in the market for a carbon road bike he would pretty much be my shortlist.
Waaay OT, but whatever happened with that Vanilla deposit you put down? You must be creeping up the list by now surely?
If you look on the crumpton site pictures, they have some pretty gnarly TT/Tri frames
.

Yeah! Sasha called yet? Jealous.
One of my teamates has a custom Crumpton - very nice.
