we’re planning a cruise but can’t figure out why suites are more expensive in one part of the ship than others. I guess higher is better and I get preferring one side from the other. But if all the suites are the same size why are those toward the middle more expensive? are then closer to amenities? thanks
Not sure. The Disney cruise we did, all the rooms are larger to accommodate families. While it is full of kids, there are lots of adult only areas of the ship where children are expressly not allowed. I would go sans kids on that line again in a heartbeat.

Which cruise line? Which ship?
In theory higher is better, but if you are prone to seasickness, you want to be lower and towards the middle.
Typically, on the major cruise lines, the fitness center/spa and the main showroom are at the bow (front),and the buffet is towards the stern (back). Generally it doesnt matter if you don’t have mobility issues since the ships are only so big.
Could be all sorts of things. Some people prefer cabins closer to the pool or certain amenities. Some cabins are in areas that get less noise. Some people prefer a cabin set up facing the bow, and others don’t care.
As someone else said, if you get seasick, low and central is a good bet, although it’s good to be able to see the horizon and get fresh air if you feel bad. That said, if you think you get seasick, why take a cruise?
Also, you may want to post your question to cruisecritic.com (it’s the slowtwitch of cruising).
And to get a good deal, if you know the cruise (ship and dates you want), use cruisecompete.com to have travel agents bid for your business -it’s free, and there’s no commitment.
Middle of the ship means more stability.
just got off the carnival Dream… true mid ship is best but these ships don’t rock so take the cheaper cabin … your a triathlete you don’t care how far you walk to dinner or whatever

OK stay off that CRUISE mid ship or not… that reminds me of my NAVY days in the North Atlantic

I tried running a treadmill in high seas (edge of Hurricane Lili) on the Song of America - I must have looked like a cartoon character with legs spinning in mid air as the bow plunged forward.
thanks all-been sailing all my life never seasick. Just couldn’t grasp the price discrepancies.
thanks-this is most helpful.
Do the more expensive ones have a balcony?
