Crocs (1)

I bought a pair of Crocs today. I never thought I would be one of those Croc people.

I’ve been wearing them for the past 2 hours, grocery shopping and fixing lunch and I LOVE them.

I got the brown Mary Jane style they’re very cute for a Croc.

By context, I’ll assume that Crocs are shoes or sandals, yes? But what makes a “Croc person” and why wouldn’t you want to be one?

Bernie

I may be the only person who will say this but…

They were not comfortable for me.

Dear g-d I tried. I put them on at REI and at Wildflower, but they just weren’t comfortable to me. It had nothing to do with their looks - I swear it!!!

Crocs are those goofy clown-shoe looking plastic clogs with the holes in them that seem to be on everyone’s feet. Especially in health care settings, on very large people and in Boulder. I wonder if Michael Lovato has a pair…???

The regular clogs didn’t fit my feet (too wide) but the Mary Janes are great!

if you have skinny feet, these shoes don’t work, isn’t that right?

that has been my experience, but maybe I’m not holding my mouth right.

Ah-Ha! I see a lot of nurses wearing them in the ER. Personally, it seems crazy to me to wear open footwear in that kind of environment. When asked, they all seem to love them. I’m happy that you like them. I think I may have seen something like them in the gardening catalogs too. Again, I would hate to expose my feet to that. They look great for the beach or doing house work.

Bernie

you can feel led zep and wear these?? whatever…

And their stock went from $30 to $90 in a year! Amazing.

Snackie loves her Crocs. And you can get decorations for them!

I haven’t gone there yet but I never owned a pair of Birks either.

In the Viking Man 1/2 Iron 2 weeks ago one guy ran the whole thing in what looked like Crocs (and a speedo: Or maybe one guy wore crocs and another a speedo, I might be mixed up). Anyway, the Crocs guy was fast, like 90 minutes for the 1/2 marathon and top-10 sub 5 hours. So was the speedo guy, if they are different people. (It was hot out there on the run).

I think the boys are getting me a pair for father’s day. shhhhhhh. I’m not supposed to know.

Yeah, that’s what I don’t get … how the fad/trend goes from $100+ birks and docs to cheap-o crocs?

At least crocs cover peoples feet for the most part. I can’t stand it when people with the ugliest feet wear the most skin-revealing shoes. I think it’s great that some people have cut their toenails in 3 years, but I don’t necessarily want to see it.

The Open Toed Shoe Pledge
As a member of the Cute Girl Sisterhood, I pledge to follow the Rules
when wearing sandals and other open-toe shoes:
I promise to always wear sandals that fit. My toes will not hang over
and touch the ground, nor will my heels spill over the backs. And the
sides and tops of my feet will not pudge out between the straps.
I will go polish-free or vow to ke ep the polish fresh, intact and
chip-free.
I will not cheat and just touch up my big toe.
I will sand down any mounds of skin before they turn hard and yellow.
I will shave the hairs off my big toe.
I won’t wear pantyhose even if my misinformed girlfriend, coworker,
mother, sister tells me the toe seam really will stay under my toes if
I tuck it there.
If a strap breaks, I won’t duct-tape, pin, glue or tuck it back into
place hoping it will stay put. I will get my shoe fixed or toss it.
I will not live in corn denial; rather I will lean on my good friend D!
r.
Scholl’s if my feet need him.
I will resist the urge to buy jelly shoes at Payless for the low, low
price of $4.99 even if my feet ar e small enough to fit into the kids’
sizes. This is out of concern for my safety, and the safety of others.
No one can walk properly when standing in a pool of sweat and I would
hate to take someone down with me as I fall and break my ankle.
I will take my toe ring off toward the end of the day if my toes swell
and begin to look like Vienna sausages.
I will be brutally honest with my girlfriend/sister/coworker when she
asks me if her feet are too ugly to wear sandals. Someone has to tell
her that her toes are as long as my fingers and no sandal makes creepy
feet look good.
I will promise if I wear flip flops that I will ensure that they are
actually flip and flop, making the correct noise while walking and I
will swear NOT to slide or drag my feet while wearing them.
I will promise to go to my local nail salon at least once per season
and
have a real pedicure (they are about $35 and worth E VERY penny).
I will promise to throw away any white/off-white sandals that show
signs of wear… nothing is tackier than dirty white sandals.
Don’t keep this to yourself - pass it on to other sisters.

LOL!

Maybe if that kid had on Crocs he could rock out more…

And I thought this was going to be another reptile thread so i could post about the “beware of salt water crocodile” signs that we saw on some of the otherwise beautiful beaches in Australia.

THey are just too ugly for me, but the Croc thongs are the bomb!!! I have lime green ones with a hot pink foot bed.

If you are a woman and you wear Crocs, you won’t need to worry about birth control.

If you are a man and you wear Crocs, you won’t need to worry about birth control, either, but anal tears could be a problem.

Second that. I found them really wide. The need a few more sizing options.

Every time my podiatrist sees the Crocs stock price rising he smiles - for he knows it means tons of business for him in a few years time!!!

I own the previous incarnation of Crocs, which I bought 5 years ago (or more) at a camping store in Nashville. They are called “Waldies”. My Nashville friend, a hiker who did the Appalachian Trail, swore I would love them. All the campers wore them as camp shoes. There are no rear straps, and the size is much wider than the Croc. I look like I have huge red ducks on my feet.

I was so embarrassed to wear them due to their UGLINESS that for 5 years they stayed in my closet. I wore a yellow rubber gardening clog instead, also embarrassing my friends but I liked them… until Crocs entered the scene. Everyone started these ugly Crocs that I took out my red Waldies and wear them ALL the time now.

Yes, my friends think they are ugly, but they feel so great. I wear them on hilly walks to tone up my ankle muscles. I just wore them to the park JUST NOW - so I could kick them off and go barefoot running in the park. (No hassle with socks and shoes).

Looks like the waldies have been reincarnated. They are so very comfortable that I can recommend them highly — AND I am very hard on my feet - I haven’t hurt myself yet in them. Fyi:

My choice is to say “so what”… I have great sexy cowboy boots in my closet and I know they look awesome… but when I want to be casual, my Waldies work (and feel) wonderous
