Critique the bike position

Very difficult to measure knee angle but I got 139°. Raise your seat a little.

Foot angle on far side is near 15°

Hip angle is 86°, again difficult to measure and IMO - tight. Raising your seat a little will open that angle up a little, maybe enough.

It also appears that your left leg is pressing into your ribs. Raising your seat may help that too but you are very toe down at the top of the pedal stroke, that can be fixed with practice.

Upper arm to body is 90° Good

Forearm to upper arm is 106° not bad but you could tip you extensions up slightly

Get a picture on a trainer so we can work with you on it. Leg at the bottom of the stroke facing the camera. A head on shot would help too.

TTX-Tri, what size is the bike and how big are you?

It will be peer pressure that makes you buy an aero helmet and then it will be peer pressure that makes you NOT wear it at races. I own one and use it for all distances, even sprint. What is your current HIM bike split?

I am 6’2 200ish and the bike is a L

Last HIM split was 3hr but that was on my road bike. This is the first tri bike I have ever raced on…

You’re skating on thin ice, mister!

I ride much lower on my road bike
.

Your saddle looks too low and you look cramped. I would extend the aerobars out 3 cm or so. 86 the spacers, too.

You probably could have removed the visor, regardless of who owned the helmet.

Dude, you will get flamed here if you “critique” Jodi’s post…

The Smurfette was originally created by the horrible wizard Gargamel to cause trouble amongst the Smurfs. With a big nose and wild hair, she didn’t originally look like much. Using his alchemy and knowledge, Papa Smurf transformed her into the charming Smurfette that melts the hearts of the other Smurfs. She’s one of a kind, full of feminine grace and frivolous. She can also be very much a woman, playing with the feelings of her sweethearts.

Fits Jodi exactly.

I hope the change in screen name means you’re laughing about this. I honestly wasn’t trying to start a fire, but I do admit I was playing with matches. I hope it rains soon.

Sorry for the cheesy simile.

Lessons learned: do not involve Jodi in when harshing a fellow ST’ers gig do not drink 3 beers on an empty stomach when you’ve been on the wagon for 7 months

I think it was a nice simile. She does have a huge fan club on ST and does come across as a very nice and sweet person. Jonnyo or someone else who actually has met her can tell you otherwise.

Hehehehe

I like it, no worries!

  1. Don’t get ON the wagon, because when you fall off, the distance to the ground seems further than before.

While your height and weight are not the best guide for fit, I’d say you should be on the right size…I’m much taller that you, I ride the same bike and size (I have no idea who rides an XL?). You definately have to raise you seat an inch, and that will flatten you back. Print up the FIST pages from this site, take a photo of yourself and play around with the angles. Then come and show us your improvements.

I do question why your seat is jammed so far forward though?

I got it as I was riding a cervelo P2k in a 60cm and it fit pretty good and my road bike is a 58cm Trek and that fit pretty good too. The TT measurements from the road bike to the TT bike were within range. I thought a M would be way to small.

The forward seat position was a result of the measurements from the road bike with forward seat post to aerobars. It is pretty comfortable for HIM distances. The aerobars haven’t been cut yet either as I want to find the right position before I hack them down. Don’t really want to make a mistake and have to get new extentions.

Tomorrow I will raise the seat a touch and drop one of the spacers. I have a ride on saturday (WIBA) of 70 miles so I should get a pretty good feel of the adjustments. After the end of July I am planning on getting a proper fit to get ready for IM WI next year. Just didn’t have the time this year after just building it up.

here is a frontish view…

I dropped the bars all the way down, raised the seat 3/4 of an inch and moved the seat back a touch. Upon doing this I am stretched out a bit more with a flatter back and can hold the position in aero for a while but that damn nose of the seat. I tilted it down about a degree or two and that seemed to help. How far is too far?
Also the raising the seat, I can go that much more without reaching through the pedal stroke and rocking the hips.

uhhhh…I think you would ride the same speed with or without an aerohelmet.

Or possibly slower if it had a long tail
