Critique my run form (aka look at me, I made the local paper)

I’m famous in Corner Brook, Newfoundland!! Of all the people to put in the paper, they had to pick my ugly mug.

I don’t know about your run form but what the hell are you wearing? Did you just get out of bed?

AAARRRGGGHH! Ya gotta warn a brotha when there’s legs that white around…I think I burned a retina

You’ve got that girlfriend-just-got-out-of-bed-wearing-one-of-my-t-shirts look… I have to say it only looks good on women.

I think you mean “girlfriend just got out of bed, sweaty, tired, wearing one of my t-shirts and a pair of running shoes.” The race number adds a bit of excitement too, although I think the future is in chip timing.

if your girlfriend is chip timing your p’erformance,’ you might have problems…

What was the race and how’d you do?
(hi from the Maine province!)

Allow me to elaborate. As you know, Paulo is a harsh taskmaster. As part of his new system of surveillance and “HTFU” training program, he demanded that I have a timing mat installed in the front hall that sends times directly to him when I have transition runs. The setup was not too much more complex than installing mats for a small race, and I was able to disguise the mat as an attractive doormat.

Then, since we had the championchip folks in the house, my girlfriend and I also installed a system of timing mats around our bed, which facilitates the practicing of “transitions”. We were able to have the “beep” turned off as part of the custom installation, but it still automatically records times although it does not send them to Paulo.
Because I have a semipermanent timing system, it seemed appropriate to get the chip implanted at the same time. Without hat horrible outer plastic case, it fits under the skin just above the ankle quite neatly; you’d never know it was there without looking quite carefully. Further advantages are that it’s much more hydrodynamic than a standard timing chip. According to my tests, I gain about 2 seconds per 100 meters in the water, and save between 1 and 2 watts on the bike.

We would both be really keen to, ah, show you the system. Do you have your own chip, or would you want to borrow one of ours? It’s no trouble, we have plenty of spares.****

We would both be really keen to, ah, show you the system.
We meaning you and your girlfriend? That’s probably the weirdest invitation to a threesome I can imagine.

Which race is that??? I am guessing an Ironman because that chick is wearing an Mdot logo.
Is that Faris Alsultan in khaki short back there???

You stole my joke about Al Sultan!

it seems like Paulo’s HTFU and your “practice feeling awesome” makes for some interesting stuff.

Can’t you see??? You feel AWESOME when you HTFU!

I was going to add that he looks like he is kicking it into overdrive and is mounting a furious charge for the finish.

Thats typical Faris! He is in disguise in pants!

Buncha wankers. I put up a perfectly good “look how great I am” post, and everyone wants to go and hijack it.

It was the first Tshirt I could find in my suitcase, and yes, it is 2 sizes too big. I signed up for the race at 5:38 pm ran back to the hotel room, grabbed the first thing I could find, and ran back to the start line for a 6:00 race start.

Ya gotta warn a brotha when there’s legs that white around

When you see someone posting “fromHalifax”, that should be warning enough.

It was on Thursday night, the BMO Downtown Dash in the sprawling metropolis of Corner Brook, Newfoundland. Just did it as a “shake the legs out” thing, so I didn’t go flat out, ended up with a 21:12 (21:07 chip time). Placed 20th overall. It was a good course, 4 laps of a rectangular course (uphill / downhill).

The perks are that now all the locals recognize me.

Ok, I’m bored, what are you famous for?

Bored is not the word I was thinking of.
