I just finish building a new commuting bike. I got rid of my Giant TCR frame (I could not sell it, I love it - we have lots of memories - it is packed in the loft) and bought a new Specialized Transition S-Works frame. I have used parts and components that I already had and a few new ones to build this bike.
I tested the bike twice. It is very comfortable and fits me perfectly. I don’t have all this – move the saddle, change the stem, move this adjust the other - to never find the right position. I suppose that Slowman and Demerly were always right. Steep does work. But it is not too steep 76.25 - which I feel works well for me. I can climb with it just as good as on my road bike. The FSA Mega Exo BB and the cranks are new. Very stiff. The wheels are Shimano - I think they are very good, but I know most of you will find them very basic and not exotic enough. It has full 10 speed Ultegra which shifts brilliantly. I love it. The compact also work very well, allowing me to spin up the hill and arrive to work fresher and ready to make money.
The frame has aero tubing which does not show in this picture very well.
Unlike my bike, the fireplace is from 1784.
This bike should allow to cycle to work very quickly.
Ultegra 10 - another joke right? Lovely commuter tho.
What is the joke - am I missing something? Oh yes, the shifters are Dura Ace 10 speed and the brakes are Dia Comp 188 (the only crappy part as they rattle too much) so not entirely Ultegra.
Ze Gopha - Absolutely agree. The water bottle will move there tonight. That sticker has to go.
smartasscoach - “1784? I call BS on that…” My house was built in 1784, it is a Goergian house. The fire place may have been installed some years later but it is very old.
AJHull - “Another picture taken when the wife is obviously not in the house”.
LOL - She did come home too early and was not very happy - the bike is not staying there - she said.
jonblyer - “How the hell do you put that water bottle in when your riding? “
I thought that too. But I can actually use it no problems. But it is going to go as Ze Gopa (the style guru) recommended.
On the extension topic… I know that the “Ironman” decals are supposed to face outwards, but it seems that the bars would look and feel better if you put the left ext. on the right side, and the right ext. on the left side so that the ironman decals face the inside. I saw those bars at Tri-zone the other day setup like that and I wondered if they too installed them backwards… or maybe you can rotate them inwards so that they do not point outwards from mid-line??? I don’t know…they just look weird.
These are candleholders. I use them every Friday for the Shabbat. I am Jewish. An atheist secular Jewish.
Do you think I should have tyres with a red or light blue line? (I have more of these – I got lots of them from the Decathlon bike shop in Monaco – they were only 25 Euro for a pack that includes two tyres and two inner tubes).
