Critique My Fit (7)

First time on a TT bike in a while. I just picked up this P2 last month and I’m trying to dial in a fit. After watching this, I can tell I need to be a little lower. I’ll have to work up (down) to that as I get my flexibility back and get used to the aero position again.

To get more comfortable and more aero, I think a flatter stem is in order, I’m frustrated that the bike came with a raised stem. What about length of the stem?

Besides that, how does the fit look overall?

This is like a party today with these things. Can you take a picture with just the bars not your arms they are hard to see? If you have a raised stem just flip the thing over unless its already over. If you flip the stem will still be probably the right length you might need a size smaller for it but it should be fine.

When did cervelo start painting their name backwards on the bikes.

you guessed it…saddle too high

toes way pointed down

lower saddle, lower bars more, go faster  not that simple but

edit: for the love of god, don’t ride zebra stripes unless you are mario!!

Seat height is right on. I think you could slide the seat back a little to improve knee position and reach. Lower the stem.

did you see how his feet are pointed like a ballet dancer at the bottom?

LOL, our team kit. They are tiger stripes.

you keep telling yourselves that !!

You’re right, hard to see in the video. Although it seems a lot of cyclists here like to ride without much ankling.

While it would be best to fix pedaling mechanics and measure with a correct foot angle at BDC, a lot of people have tight calves and hamstrings, causing the toes to point regardless of seat height. Just something to consider, especially if your foot angle differs noticeably in the aero position compared to on the drops, aero stretching the hamstrings even more. Pointed toes are everywhere in bike classes.

interesting how everyone on her says toes pointed is a bad thing and it means seat is too high, From i have read about Tri position from top fitters in the industry, and mypersonal fit through retul is feet are typically not flat at BDC in a Tri position specially at steeper seat angles, but what is more important is a knee angle between 38-43 degrees. Can someone please chime in who is an actual fitter, or has some real knowledge about fitting.

maybe, but at 3-4 o’clock his foot is level(blurry but fairly level) after that point it’s toes down down down
.

i tend to agree; it looks like the op might be “toeing-off” a bit to get the bottom of his pedal stroke (a sure sign that the seat is too high).

Having the toes pointed down does not always mean the seat is too high. Lowering the seat may incorrectly fix toes pointed too much, but the overall problem may be calf/hamstring related, and that is what should be fixed as the root problem. His position looks fine from eyeballing a video, and toes down to an extent is appropriate when everything is rotated forward in the aero position. I would maybe try moving pads/seat forward a couple cm or whatever, which would rotate the hips more around the BB, and maybe level out the tilt in the bars.

position looks good. we’d need to see a front shot to get a better idea. i’m guessing you’d be more comfortable and aero with the bars out front a little more and the arms could get closer. just guessing.
you are looking down in all the video i watched. this is a common problem for positioning on trainers. you need to put the head in the position it will be in during the race. it will feel a lot different. you may need to practice it.
some people get nice comfortable and aero position on trainers then get on the road and stick their head up like they are driving a car and ruin it all.
good luck

Hopefully I don’t offend the OP…but I think that’s a guy.

I did this immediately after watching the video of myself riding. Feels a TON more comfortable. I’m going to drop some spacers and see how it feels next week or so. I’ll try to repost another video after that.

Thanks everyone for your input.
