Critique my fit (4)

First side on race shot I’ve gotten on the new bike. P3C has different geometry than my p3SL did, plus different aerobars now.

Looks like maybe I need to rotate the extensions up a weee bit, my forearms look down angled. for shame. maybe could hold my head lower too, something to experiment with.

this is a half iron setup here. no integrated hydration

I agree with your extension angle. Does appear to be down angled just slightly.

Is that where you like your forearms on the cups? It does seem like you might be just a hair stretched but I also like to be compact.

What length crank arms?

172.5 on the crankarms.
The extensions are probably a wee bit shorter than I would like ideally, but I think the next size up will be a wee bit too long. what to do! It was comfy for all 3.25 hours of savageman so I think I’ll just keep em.

Nicely aligned skewers. BTW.

You look fast. That is key.

Agree w/ the head, I do that too. Head down, look up I suppose. Easier with helmet visor I’ve found.

You have a better position than 3/4 of the pro peloton.
Well done.
Jim

check out Hutchinson though, look at his head.

awesome

Nice, but white shoes and black socks?

matches the white frame and black wheels. it all makes sense.

Yeah, you can still work toward the “turtle head” but you’re already very good.
Of course, you still need to get down into the low 18s on South Mopac.

I’ve gone sub 18 at mopac.

I think you probably already have the changes you need to make. Really just getting your hands higher (forearms level) and turtling your head more. Also, it looks like you could shrug your shoulders in narrower. Hard to tell without a shot from the front.

How have you not broken the hour yet with all that aero?

Looks absolutely great Jack. You can split hairs and bring up the hands.
If you can get the head lower that’s good too, if you just look down the tail will be off your back. lowering the head and raising the tail is probably a net improvement I suppose.

I would not change anything based on this pic. Any appearance of off angles could have more to do w/camera-to-subject angle than anything else. Looks close enough to level to me…if that’s what you’re going for. A change in hand position will affect your drag as much or more than any change in the bar mount angle. That’s a damn good position. There are no obvious changes to be made. Well…maybe your head position, but getting that lower out of the wind might not be sustainable over longer tri distances. Get thee to a wind tunnel or do some testing via RChung’s methods if you think there is room to improve. Frankly, I’d advise JFT.
