Wow, CSC, 1, 4, 5 (GC). thats amazing, 1,2,3 in the TT. Im betting gerard is eating this up. Notice they were riding soloists. P3 domination too. Where’s the R2.5?

Bjarne Riis and his CSC team are performing amazingly well these days.

Who would have thought this of Julich just a few years ago ?

And he’s gotten better at staying on his bike !

As every year, they ride mostly the Soloist in the early season races and the R2.5 in the Tour. Works for them, works for me.

Sorry for hijacking the thread…but speaking of R2.5 Team’s…how is availability? Are 51cm shipping? Last response I got from the info@cervelo.com was that they’d ship at end of March…and it’s the 28th:)

What kind of chainrings were they riding? Looked like the old Bio-pace stuff.

As a matter of fact, when I walked in this morning I saw another batch of R2.5 Teams going through assembly here this morning. Not sure how many 51’s are in that batch, but at any rate, this batch should be on its way to our dealers today or tomorrow.

Bobby rides O-symmetric chainrings, a french company. The rest of the team uses standard FSA chainrings.

…cool. how about the Team Soloists…again, in the 51cm:)

Gerard, is availability of just the Team frames also good at this time?

Actually, I never said supply was good on the R2.5 Team, I said we are shipping. And we are shipping much more than for example last year around this time. But is it enough to satisfy demand? No, not even close.

Here’s a fact, every Cervelo we build will be sold this year. So sometimes you may have to wait. People who wonder why companies cannot foresee the demand and act upon it are missing the point. I foresee the demand, but unless you loan me five million bucks I can’t do more about it than I am doing already. We likely grow faster than any other bike company right now, but it is limited both by the quality we demand and by the financial requirements for such growth.

With regards to people being promised a certain date and it then doesn’t materialize, that annoys me to no end. We are actually installing new software that will greatly improve our accuracy in this.

Don’t get me wrong, I am as frustrated as the customers about delivery issues, and it is the #1 issue we are working on all the time. But we can only guarantee that this year will be better than last, not that it will be perfect. As Rudy Campagne from Vittoria says: “We perform miracles, but only one a day”.

Gerard, thanks for responding. I understand the supply issue but was unsure if the delay was coming from components or frames. Hence, if the former then the latter might be more readily available. I was unable to follow Tom’s advise earlier as I had not been diagnoised with my spondylosis until late January and therefore was not going to have buy a smaller bike.

PM with your banking details and I’ll send the 5 mill

I think the real revelation was Dekkers 2nd place - only losing it on the final TT (and then not by much). a real talent …and he’s only 20 years old.
