Creaking SpeedPlay Zeros

Do anyone else’s speedplays make a loud creaking noise whenever you lay down some power? Whenever I start pumping they start creaking. it’s on the loud side and it scares the roadies when I ride by them.

I’ve tried lubing the snap rings but that doesn’t seem to do a thing.

Have you greased the bearings? There’s an injection port…

You might try taking the pedals off and greasing the spindle thread to the crank arm.

Both are well lubed. I can definately feel the snap ring re positioning as I pedal, although it’s never come unclipped. I’ve got the 4 countersunk screws pretty loose so that I can actually clip into the pedals, maybe they’re too loose and allowing the ring to flex a little too much?

I had the same problem, tried everything you have and thought about sending them to the manufacturer for a rebuild but opted instead to buy a new pair of pedals.

Try lubing the pedal itself. That is what I do to mine. The creaking is usually the cleat rubbing against the top of the plastic (???) part of the pedal. Time for new cleats?
