What do you suggest? FSA Carbon Pro Dura-Ace 10 speed Pulsion StronglightThanks.
My vote is for Dura Ace. I don’t know much about the Pulsion, but FSA seems to have the crappiest bottom brakets in bicycling and a rider I met on a training ride a couple of weeks ago fell and his FSA crank arm cracked.
While we’re talking Cranks… anyone have feed back on the Zipp Cranks? besides that they are expensive as hell, I mean.
Dura Ace is sexy.
Thanks, any further votes are appreciated.
My vote is for Dura Ace 10, or FSA MegaExo. The outboard bearings DO make a difference in terms of durability, stiffness, and ease of installation.
I am looking at the Bontrager Aluminum compacts. Lighter and cheaper than the FSA alu compacts.

Not sure about that from our experience - the wife’s FSA BB that came with the MegaExo was toast after less than 4 months - the bearings and the cup were badly rusted. maybe she just got a duff one.
I use pulsion (stronglight) on my road bike. great cranks. super light. super stiff. coolest looking crank made. right now they are used with an fsa bottom bracket. the bottom bracket is junk. probably the last fsa item I ever purchase.
I’m pretty well convinced that Isis bottom brackets in general are junk. does anybody know of an isis bb that doesn’t creak and click after a couple weeks?
Not sure if you can get the pulsions with anything other than isis, though.
According to every review I have read or heard about, as well as every rider I have ever asked, claims the Dura Ace 7800 is noticeably stiffer than an ISIS system.
The new FSA K-Force also has external (outside the B.B.shell) bearings as well as the cheaper (compression molded) FSA SLK crank.
There was a failure report involving the seperation of an FSA K-Force crankarm seperating from the alu spindle boss.
I have not heard of a warranty claim on an SLK, but one reviewer noted that the crankarms seemed less stiff than the old Team Issue; adding that the overall crankset was stiffer than the Team Issue ISIS because of the external bearings.
Overall, the Dura Ace 7800 seems to be the obvious choice; a few people have mentioned good compatibility between a D/A 7800 crank and a Campy10 drivetrain.
The FSA Pro comes stock with the P3 Carbon…so I think I’m going with that…no?

not unless gary convinces you that you need rotors with a 56t chainring
I now have Dura Ace and it is very stiff and responsive. Do not know anything better. Don.
I’m hoping FSA Pros are the safe/smart way to go since they come stock on the P3c…
Crank manufacturers are all pretty much at the top of their respective games, but they make poor choices for bottom brackets.
ISIS and the newer external bearing style bottom brackets are becoming more and more popular and they seem like a good idea - lighter and stiffer as everything should be. However, the new BB’s rely too heavily on the frame for structural support. If your threads are off by the tiniest bit from one side of the bb shell to the other, the bearings will not line up parallel and your bb will feel like crap. ISIS is particularly bad in this case. I would recommend against upgrading a pre-ISIS or external bearing frame to something modern because frame manufacturers have had to improve their tolerance to such things.
Hard to beat a square taper, even if it is a squoosh heavier.
Think Campy.
