Cramping calfs and side stitch

I’m still new to triathlons and have only done 3 sprints w/ my first oly course coming up at the end of next month. During training I rarely cramp up and only get a stitch occasionally, even on my hard days.

In my last sprint, as soon as I got off the bike, both my calves started to twitch as if they were going to lock-up and I got a side stitch for the first mile of the run.

I’ve never done brick training, but I’m guessing that it might be the reason for my muscle cramping when going from one discipline to the next. Does this sound correct?

Thanks

My knee-jerk reaction is that you were/are undertrained. Side stitches continue to plague me acting as a speed regulator. If I’m running, biking, or swimming outside my current fitness level for more than a few minutes I’ll get a right sided side-stitch.

Your training at one speed and racing at another speed, a speed that your body is unacustom to.

Train more = More Volume

Hope this helps.
