Craft Tri Short & Top

Does any one have any experience with this short & top? Do they run small or large as compared to their sizing table? How do they feel in race conditions? Any help or comments would be apprciated.

Thanks.

Smitty

Sizes run fairly large. They are not really “stretchy” like lycra fabrics. It is very hard to explain. The fabric is just different than any other fabric I’ve felt. Very nice. But I’d size down one size. The cycling pad is top notch. I think the fabric is really great, but it is different, so you may not like it.

Thanks for the help. Its appreciated. The other short & top I was thinking about was Descente.

No opinion there. Saw some Oomph stuff at a race the other week. Fabric is really nice. I’m keen to get myself some of that…

I’ll also look at Ooomph products. Thanks again. Smitty

the descente stuff is nice, runs small actually, I’m usually a small in desoto/zoot/pearl… but a medium in descente. the top is nice as it can fit skin tight and you’ll have no problem swimming in it alone no matter how anal you might be about drag. I love mine for our warm hawaii waters. two back pockets are much better than a single and the palcement is spot on. Wash before you wear, kinda itchy fabric brand new. I feel it’s a little tight around the stomach sometimes, bothers me for the first minutes of a run and then I forget about it.

shorts are much looser than any other tri shorts, minimal compression and softer fabric. nice plush pad. I love the tops but need more muscular support then the shorts give.

descente top, sugoi or desoto power tri short is my combo

Tai,

Thanks. Great info. I’m looking for a top to swim in with out a wet suit. I believe my next race will be without a wet suit. Descente top & Craft shorts. Thanks you guys.

I bought the Craft short for IMAZ. It was too large. I returned with out a problem, but they didn’t have my size available. I went with the oomph. The oomph shorts are excellent. They are longer than the Craft short and the pad in the oomph is better. I have the Craft training top. It is excellent.

Kjsmitty,

I own both and for me, hands down the best apparel out there in respect to comfort, durability, and performance.

Which type of Oomph shorts did you purchase?

Well, I can tell you the clothing is absolutely top-notch. It is about the fabrics and about the superior cut and patterns. Craft tri clothing is super good. I thought sizing ran very true, different than Sugoi which is absurdly small. In Craft, a medium is a medium.

Craft is probably the best quality, most advanced triathlon clothing available. The technology and function may be somewhat beyond what most people consider necessary or are willing to appreciate, but the stuff is very, very good.

one word of caution with craft…

the race tops come in two lengths, short and long. neither, however, cover your midsection - yes, even the long with the full zipper leaves a few inches exposed. if you want full coverage the best option is the long training top and race short.

that being said, i wouldn’t trade my craft stuff for the world.

I found that the Craft stuff didnt fit me well, but I have but shoulders and a larger chest than most Triathletes. I like the Oomph stuff quite a bit though. I made a last minute purchase on this stuff at IMLP and it felt so good I raced in it.

By the way, if someone wants a Craft Tri top as shown in the first picture (Large) I will sell it at 1/2 price plus shipping. Shoot me a side note.

i don’t know how the craft stuff fits, but it sure is pertty.

I bought the Lava Compression short. Very, very comfortable. I thought the sizing was accurate. I would highly recommend. The distance pad is the best I’ve found in tri or cycling shorts.

That pad is a bit heavier than most tri shorts, isn’t it? Saw their stuff at the LP expo, looked very nice. I tried on their one piece and almost bought it, except that in the case of the one piece, the pad is almost non-existent.

smitty…i have both the top and bottom and i’ll say that they’re pretty accurate in terms of sizing. i prefer non-snug clothing so i went towards the larger size. the shirt does’t fully cover your mid-section and leaves part of your back exposed, so make certain to add sunscreen to your lower back. the material is very comfortable and you can tell by the feel that this is some quality stuff. hope this helps. dave

Dave,

Thanks.

I wore the new shorts & top @ Wilkes-Barre last week. The shorts are great & the race top was good. The shorts feel like you have nothing on.

Ok, this has to be the best company for tri clothes. The stuff is expensive but worth it.

The sizes run small on me. Most “normal” tri clothes (Pearl Izumi) I wear a L but with Craft I wear an XL.Go figure? To be safe, order a size larger than you would normaly. The stuff is very durable and wears well too.

I see you have the seperate top and shorts pictured. I had the top but it is one of the short tops and the gut didn’t fare well wearing it. The shorts are the best. I have 3 pairs and ordering another. I use them for all 3 sports. You can never have enough Craft

If you want a trisuit I have one for sale in the classifides. Make an offer as I will never use it again since I am to fat.
