Checked my bike into T1 at yesterday’s sprint tri on the Marine base here in Kaneohe, HI and felt something unusal under the seat - damn, a cracked titanium rail on a less than 12 month old Selle San Marco Azoto tri gel seat.
Still did the tri on the seat, but could not ride the nose like I usually do.
I think this is a popular seat - has any one less experienced any similar problems?
I weight about 150 lb, and the seat is max forward on the rail.
150 lb! You can fool some of the people all of time, all of the people some of the time ----------------- Have any of you actually seen this Hairy Legs guy?
I’ve actually broken 2 of them. One tri Azoto and one tri Aspide. Selle San marco in Italy replaced the Azoto ASAP no questions asked. They recommended the Aspide as the Ti rails were of higher quality. NOT…broke this one a few weeks later. Selle San Marco would not answer my telephone calls or emails on the second one.
I then contacted a US distributor and forwarded my broken seat to them. They sent me a new Vision Tri Azoto. It has magnesium rails instead of titanium. I got the distributor’s telephone number from Trisports. They were VERY helpful.
I only weigh 163 pounds! I inspect my rails nearly ever day!! I’m waiting for my remaining Azoto with Ti rails to break!!
Your scaring me now! I’ve been hearing this creaking noise on my aspide. I’m gonna look at it now. What seatpost are you runnig? I use carbon alien. Does the post clamp have anything to do with rail failure?
Did you break them on your beam bike? I would have thought that that was pretty difficult…??? I have considered getting the Aspide tri (or waiting for the arrione tri.)
How did you contact them to get them to replace the saddle? I had mine break, and the LBS shop that I had previously thought highly of said “Selle San Marco basically won’t warranty anything because they’re an Italian business.” I’d love to bypass the shop and get a replacement on my own.
I called Trisports and they gave me the name of a couple of US distributors of the saddles. I sent the distributor my broken saddle and sent a new Vision Tech model. If I can find the distributor list I’ll post it here.
Could very well be Sinclair not St Clair…Either way they helped me out!
Yes, I’m doing the State TT Championships in 2 weeks right here in St Augustine. I have 2 friends from Tampa staying at our B&B that are also doing the race.
Will you be here , too? If ya need a room just give us a call or see our web site:
If i can keep my back problems under control, will still go ,it only hurts after riding(see my 52t verses 53t post)I will be the tall guy with the red/yellow Tiemeyer. Did you do it last year? Sounds like its a slow course
It was a little windy. Only 2 turns and 1 turn around. The wind can be very bad!!
I rode it last year on a Tiemeyer!! I woke up that morning very sick and went only because I had friends in from out of town for the race. I’ll be on a black Zipp 2001. Stop and say HI!!! You can visit our Inn when your in town, too!!
I did an awful 1:06 and change. I was very sick the whole way, I felt really sh*ty!! A few years ago I did a 1:04 and change when the race was down in Miami. I’m hoping for a 1:02 and change this year, but I’ve been working on the run leg of the tri’s. I’ve taken about 2 minutes off my 5K time since January. I’ve also lost about 16 pounds, too. (down to 162 @ 6’3") so this should help. My buddy from Tampa is looking for a sub :58 (yes, Alan thats you : )
