Many people wondered how Sérgio was able to beat Tom Evans at IMAZ. Some even questioned the strange way Tom had a slow run.
The picture below was taken on the friday before the race, and shows a well known in some circles southern europe triathlon coach bribing Tom Evans, in order for him to take a fall and let Sérgio get into the podium.
Thank God I was standing out of the picture and shoving more food down my throat. I don’t want them to associate me with such bribery and take away the 1038th place that I took!
Hey, SAC, what’s with Tom’s tan? Looks a little dark for a Canadian at this time of the year. Most of us are about as white as the snow that has just melted from our front lawns a few weeks ago!

He was in Kona for a few weeks training with the Canadian Team and the local athletes.
Are those $1 bills?
I don’t think that’s corruption, that’s corrosion.
He’s freeken Canadian and probably doen’t notice the difference. They have money that is color coded for gosh sakes.
I think someone is going to have to revoke Tom’s Canadian passport. He should know that as a true Canadian triathlete, you are supposed to show up at these early season races, completely un-tanned and white as a sheet, but still kicking the butts of the buffed and tanned southerners who have been training in warm sun all winter!
