Anyone going up to this from Socal? I’d be interested in carpooling w/someone and/or sharing lodging.
I don’t live too far from it - about 45 minutes. I might head there this weekend and check out the bike course. I don’t recognize those roads but I know the area has a lot of traffic and most of the roads are two lane (one lane each direction), with very little to no shoulder.
It is a good course, I would go again but I have a training weekend at Lake San Antonio schedueled to prep for Wildflower. By the Beach Productions puts on well coordinated events. Stay for lunch after the race, it is well worth it.
I did this race last year, but the changed a good portion of the bike course. There is a good little climb about 3-5 miles into the ride, maybe 1-1.5 miles long with a sweet downhill on the way down, fast and not technical, it was raining last year so I didn’t really let the wheels runs. The backside is mostly slightly downhill or flat with a couple small rollers. On the way back in there are a couple of small hills that are just annoying, around the 16-20 mile markers I would guess.
They also changed the first run course, but if I remember the roads around there right, it should be pretty flat. The second run is the same as last year and it is basically pancake flat, minus the 40 or so ft climb about 1/4 mile outta transition.
I can’t remember if they closed the roads, most the bike course is on really small road that only serves a residential area. There was little or no traffic on the course last year, there was a dumb as group of spectators that didn’t leash their dog that ended up jumping out infront of my bike, almost hit the damn thing.
Bump.
