Core work (leg raises) - How often? How to build up?

I didn’t say biking helped my abs and I didn’t say that strengthening my abs helped my aero position!

I didn’t say that holding the aero position demanded lots(or any for that matter) core strength.

I said core exercises helped me hold the aero position for a longer period of time.(effortlessly)

You must be confusing core exercises with ab work outs.

Core exercises are not just ab workouts and they just don’t target the abs!!!

When I mean core, I mean the trunk(torso plus base of appendeges) of your body in essence that is the core of the body:Abs, Back, Shoulders, Chest, Tri’s and upper thighs, not just abs(at least that is what I read when I originally started reading about core exercises). It just seems that everybody equates Core exercises with Ab exercises. And that is not the case! The one thing I noticed from my core work outs is the strengthening of my back. My back is usually more tired and sore than my abs., Also my thighs get really tired too. Don’t get me wrong the abs have gotten much stronger and are starting to show more each week along with the obliques.

But I feel doing core exercises helped my aero position by allowing me to hold my back flatter and not having it humped as much as before allowing me to open up my chest and lungs a bit more. Before the core workouts it was hard for me to hold it flat for longer rides without having to come back to the hoods for a break on a longer ride. I don’t have a TT/Tri bike I have a road bike with clipons. So maybe this is much easier on a TT/Tri bike.

And not that I have any proof of this but I think it is the “Strength That I gained from Core Exercises In My Lower Back Muscles” that has allows me to hold the aeroposition without effort and not the strength in my Abs!!!
