Coping with Stretch Marks on Legs (Male)

Did anyone else find they got stretch marks in the lower thigh/knee regions of their legs due to all of their bike training? I go through bottle and bottle of lotion but it doesn’t seem to help.

i am not a guy, nor have i had this problem. but pregnant women use cocoa butter for that, instead of lotion

Wear 'em with pride, man. I have darker skin and the stretch marks on my upper pecs/bicep area from when I started lifting weights in college are pretty noticeable. I think they’re sweet.

I have a ton on my legs, looks weird but oh well

Why would bike training cause stretch marks on your legs?

Muscles get bigger.

If that is the least amount of “coping” you need to do, consider yourself a lucky man.

Run more- that’ll keep muscle mass down AND make you a better triathlete too.

Muscular growth

Stretch marks are hormonal. They are not caused by growth or shrinkage.

Your answer is not entirely wrong, but it’s not correct. From Wikipedia:

“Stretch marks are often the result of the rapid stretching of the skin associated with rapid growth or weight gain or, in some cases, severe pulling force on skin that overcomes the dermis’s elasticity. Stretch marks may also be influenced by hormonal changes associated with puberty, pregnancy, muscle building, hormone replacement therapy for transsexuals, etc.”

The key is that hormones influence stretch marks, but the proximate cause is the actual physical stretching of the skin. Or, to put it another way, you need to actually stretch the skin to get the stretch marks. The hormones govern the ability of the skin to stretch without damage.

True, but stretching the skin without the hormonal “imbalance” will not result in the marks. The hormonal aspect is required. Very little growth is needed for the marks to occur as long as you have the hormonal issue. Women who become pregnant will get marks in areas that showed almost no growth. For instance some womens’ asses or legs don’t get any bigger but the marks still show up. It’s the hormones, baby!

Just, wow

Sheniqua on the radio would like to invite you to try a free trial of Celtrixa…

I have nothing constructive to add to this thread, only humor.

Maybe I will check this out then:

Have never tried using cocoa butter.

So, everyone whose muscles get bigger gets stretch marks? Odd, I hadn’t noticed that.

I think it has a lot to do with how quickly they get bigger. I put on a lot of muscle in a relatively short period of time when I got mine. If the muscle is added more slowly, the skin will adapt better.

Is this thread just a humble brag? haha
