I know there are a lot of variables to this like what temps do you train in, your weight, tire psi etc., but what kind of mileage have you typically been getting out of these? They have been a excellent tire so far with approx. 1,100 miles on them. Thanks
Your mileage sounds about right. Definitely my favorite training tires, and I ride in a lot of cruddy sub-tropical rain. I have had some cracking on certain batches on the rubber parts on either side of the main tread, but the treads that meet the road are always unaffected. I get them for around US$30-35/tire.
Keep It Fun,
The mileage you get will depend on many factors and it is very hard and often frustrating to ask someone else what kind of mileage they get on the same tires you are using and they are getting double the mileage you are.
The road quality of the roads you ride on plays a very big factor here. Excellent asphalt, fine composition as opposed to course composition is one of the primary factors. Chip and seal roads add significant wear to your tires.
The terrain is another significant factor. Flat terrain will add greatly to your tire’s life (mileage). Rolling terrain will decrease the mileage you will get with your tires and very hilly terrain will further decrease the mileage you can get on your tire.
Tire pressure is another issue that has significant impact. Do you check your tire pressure before every ride and pump them up to the correct pressure? Although the manufacturer states a recommended maximum pressure, this is not always the pressure that will produce maximum tire life (mileage). Usually, a slightly lower pressure, 5-10 psi lower than the maximum pressure increases tire life and wear.
The weight of the rider is another factor. If I weigh 40 lbs more than you, then it is very likely you get more miles on your tires before you replace them than I do.
The kind of riding/training you do also contributes to tire wear of the lack of it. Do you race? Do you do intervals in your training program? Do you participate in Club rides and sprints between the bridges or to the city limit signs? Or do you just log lots of distance at zone 2 and 3 heart rate levels on solo rides?
But I love these tires too. I ride 23mm and get 2,500+ miles on them. I’m in the 185-190 lbs range.
I have used 25mm and seem to get closer to 3,000 miles on those.
I’d love to know where Mookie1986 gets his. Mine run me on the order of $45-50 USD each.
Thanks for your response! I agree, these are excellent all around tires. I found this link for purchasing them on-line http://www.biketiresdirect.com/productdetail.asp?p=COGP3
I have been using these tires for around 1500 miles so far. I love them! Great tires for the price…
Keep it Fun,
Thanks for the link.
