Contact Wearers

What sunglasses do you ride with ?

Rudy Project Sportmask.

I use many different sunglasses, but my favorites are my Oakley Minutes.

BTW, my contacts - Acuvue Advance, offer nearly 100% UVA/B protection - as good as sunglasses. Therefore my sunglasses are for wind and debris protection, not really to protect from harmful sun.

yeah I meant for protecting from wind mostly. Mine tend to pop out or at least move in my eyes on the descents. Are the ones you wear dailies ?

Second on the Advance- used for about 2-3 yrs, seem pretty good. I wear a pair of Smith shades- can be had cheaply, and they block all the wind, and held up well in MTB crashes.

In 25 years of contact wearing I have never had a lens move around nor pop out. Yes I use daily wear lenses. From what I understand, if you are having trouble with movement or popping out, your lenses do not fit correctly.

I wear Acuvue disposable cls and for surfing dailies. As for my sunglasses,Rudy Project wraps.I can change the color of lenses adjusting to my surroundings.I would recommend to wear some sort of protection ( I work in the eyefield).Nothing worse than having a foreign body lodged in eye or under contact lens,60 miles away from home on your bike!

I wear CibaVision daily-wear (non-disposable) contacts with Oakley Half Jackets (XLJ lenses). I have never had a problem with the wind bothering my eyes. Based on your previous post, I have to agree that you may have a problem with your choice of contact lenses. They shouldn’t be moving around on you at all, regardless of the wind in your face. I have completed more than a handful of rides without any eye protection, usually because I forgot top grab them on the way out the door, and never had any issue other than watery eyes on some fast(er) descents.

Rudy Project Ekynox SX. I’ve temporarily lost a contact in two races in the last two years. Last weekend at the 5430 Long Course I had a contact get very dry on the bike course and I nearly lost it.

Actually, sun is only 4th on my list of reasons I wear glasses when I ride. #1 is wind, 2 is bugs and gnats and 3 is dust. 1 through 3 are still there even when I ride at night.

I wear Oakley M Frames. I can’t really offer a comparison since they are the only high quality glasses with changable lenses I’ve ever worn but after 4 years with my orginal pair, I haven’t found a reason to switch. They do a greatjob of blocking wind etc. They have a wide range of lense tints available and the lesnes are super easy to switch out.

Rudy Project Rydon - polarized

I don’t have multiple lenses. (Though you can purchase them.) Oakleys don’t work for me because the nose piece is molded in and not adjustable. On my fact, most glasses tend to sit high and wind comes up under the lens. The Rudy Projects let me adjust the fit.

Rudy Project Graal SX. I’m not going to jinx myself and comment on whether I’ve ever lost a lens…

I second that.

AO Safety Urban Light Safety Glasses available form Lowes for 7.95 to 9.95. I buy 4 or 5 pairs at a time.
So if I loose them or step on them just grab another pair.
They have no rim on the lenses so great in aero for looking ahead nice comfortable… Been using them for about 3 years now… can’t beat the price…

You really can’t judge sunglasses from what others are wearing, it is going to depend on your face size/shape.

It’s interesting to me to see the percentage of responders who wear Rudy…

Hey Dan - did you notice that? Smells like opportunity to me…
