Contact lens=Dry eye

Have had the same problem, and it’s gotten much better with the Rudy Project Sport Mask.
Good luck!

I used to have the same issue, I finally found contacts that do not dry out my eyes…Focus Night and Day! Don’t sleep with them like they ‘allow’ you to but take them out every night and you will have no more dry eyes/contacts…plus you can use them for 2 months if you take them out at night (as per the eye doctor). I tried everything, these contacts are the first that also don’t dry out when you’re out at a party till 4AM.

You’re a triathlete. Just wear goggles.

Seems pretty obvious, right?

A couple things have made my life easier.

  1. Good contacts- they have some new ones that are much better.

  2. Washing eyelids. You can use a product called Steri-lids which is a soap just for sanitizing eyelids. Or just use baby-shampoo.

  3. Warm compress. This was the magic bullet. My dry-eyes are caused by too much oil in the eyes oil glands, which then clogs up. With the oil glands clogged your eyes can’t keep the tears around. Take a warm washcloth and put it in the microwave (in a CLEAN bowl)to get it hotter (around 30 sec works for me.) Hold it on your eyelids once you are sure it’s not going to scald you. I have found that this works better mid-day than re-wetting drops. The re-wetting drops work for a half hour or so, but opening up those oil glands keep your eyes happy for hours.

  4. Before I found step 3, I did use the old trick of wearing my sunglasses upside down. They ride higher on your nose and actually block wind better. But I don’t need this goofy technique anymore…

I want to thank everyone for taking the time to respond to this thread I am keeping a list of the productive ideas and consulting with my vision professional for further advice.

Please feel free to keep offering solutions it seems that we have a large group of like people.

I did love the suggestion to wear goggles. I can see me now going down the Keene descent wearing ski goggles. Maybe they would be better by the ski jumps or white face;).

Thanks to all

+1 on all accounts (IMAZ, lasik, bike, etc)
.

I use “Opcon A” eye drops by Bausch and Lomb and find them to be awesome at preventing dry eye. I also use relatively “wet” contacts – Purevision. With this combination, I can wear just about type of sunglasses though I favor my Ekynox’s over anything else I have.
