Considering a Nutritionist: Is it worth it?

STers:

For those that have used one, is it worth having one?

I have heard really good things about Kim Mueller who is in San Diego and part of the tri club. Here is a link to her website:

Don’t see a nutritionist, see a Registered Dietitian. It is very common to find “Nutritionists” who have very little, or no training at all. There are a number of Registered Dietitians out there who specialize in sports related eating. It’s your best bet!

I’m currently 4 weeks into a program set forth by a Sports Nutritionist/Dietician from the U.C. Davis Sports Medicine Group. It has been extremely beneficial. In the last two weeks I have lost 5 lbs without drastically changing what I eat. What really changed was the times that I eat and frequency. (every two hours) We’ve also changed the amount of calories I’m taking in on training rides/runs so I don’t feel so famished/depleted at the end of my workouts. I set a goal of being 179 lbs for Kona. I’m currently 186 and started the program at 195.

Hope this helps and good luck!

Don’t waste your money. Knowing what to eat is easy, DOING it is another matter…
