I just saw the results from Eagleman and noted the very studly performance by ST’s Muffintop. He went sub 4 and thankfully for him, beat Ms. Badmann by a solid 11 minutes, ensuring that he is well ahead of the women’s world record holder :-)…seriously, that is a smoking time. Looks like More is More is working

Thanks Dev! The day was an absolute gift - conditions were perfect and I did have the race of my life, again, for at least the second time this season!
Props to everyone who was out there - I know there has been a lot of talk about drafting, but everyone I saw out on the bike course rode really clean and really hard! And then pretty much everyone threw down a great run!
So, wow, yeah, a REALLY hard and (at least for me) a REALLY great race. qcassidy just about ran me down on the way to a 1:14 run, the fastest of the day; Jacqui (no longer riding Jacqui’s Yacqui, but now a new Red Trek) had a breakthrough run as she continues to adapt to The Coach Formerly Known As Smartasscoach’s racing strategy.
Marisol, I was jumping up and down … I am worried that when Paulo sees my big ugly grin through the entire last three miles he is going to get all grumpy with me. But I was having the race of my life (again!) and I knew it and every time I got happy about that I went a little faster. My mom was at the race too, and she was also jumping up and down. It must run in the family
I’ll post a long and suitably boring race report tomorrow, maybe from the airport! Thanks again!
Muffintop, that was an awesome race. What other plans do you have for the rest of the year? Are you going to Clearwater? If so, you should make a celebrity appearance at the Demi Esprit Half Ironman in Montreal. This course is BULLET fast. It is probably ~ 15 minutes faster than any rolling to hilly course I know.
As for you race report, here is the Executive Summary, “I showed up at Eagleman. A 41 year old Pro Woman was in the field. Aparently she won this race 4 times. I could not show my face at ST if I let her beat me (kinda like Jonnyo fearing a thrashing from Michellie Jones…). So I hammered and put the boots to her. Beat a bunch of studly Pro men in the process”
Yes, huge props to mcaiazzo also! I am such a doofus sometimes. He went roaring by me on the bike … I was not close enough to see his powermeter as he went by but I did notice he has the new prototype Powertap display that reads out four digits…
Yes, I think it is safe to say that Will EXECUTED out there in all three sports. He flew by me pretty early on the bike and I didnt see him again until the turnaround on the run. At that point he had 2 min on me which I thought I would have a chance to close since I was having a good run. I figured if I ran in the 1:14-1:15 range then he would have to run 1:18 or so to hold me off. Well, needless to say he picked it up on the second half not only did I not catch him but I did not even see him again until we were both finished. Considering he recently PRd in an open half mary in 1:16, the 1:16 he split at the end of the 70.3 was pretty darn impressive. Perhaps he should race an open half without doing a race the day before…
Also, kudos to Mike C for a great swim. When he and a couple others blasted past me an hour into the ride, I knew I was in trouble since at Florida he didnt catch me until much later in the race. Needless to say, I need to learn how to ride my bicycle to stay with these guys.
Great job to everyone out there. The volunteers were fantastic and the post race atmosphere was awesome. It was also good to chat with some STers after the race. For anyone interested, a slightly longer race report should be up on the Team Timex Blog pretty soon.
i guess i need to say good job as it s a dam fast performance out there… way faster than my pb…!!! but as i m very jealous, i would prefer to be negative and point out that there is a big lack of picture and powermeter data on this thread… what s up with this? You guys dont want to share with me? i know a bunch of you have powertaps …i will keep pumping this thread until i get decent TTX pics, data numbers and womens…
keep the good work boys!!! that is some impressive performance… hope to see you all soon
but not good work on the posting… remember key elements… pictures, data…
Thanks Will! You had a great race yourself. One of the best parts of triathlons meeting people before and after the race. I talked for a while to Andrew and Will before the race and they are great guys. Look out for Andrew because he is going to be the future of triathlons.
