They are both going to Kona to race. Tara got the good news today as the local press was there waiting for her at their New Jersey home.
Of course, “hammer husband” Chris got his spot at Ralphs 1/2 a few weeks back…anyway have fun out there in Kona and come visit us in Florida soon! ~KJG
They want it to be a surprise, so they present it before the lottery results are released. I don’t know how they “pick” who gets the surprise coverage, maybe by who has a good story? Maybe its just random. It is for media coverage purposes.
Congrats to you both!
To quote the punchline from a joke, “Bofum?” Wow. A lot of heavy breathing going on in THAT household, what with two endurance athletes in training and all… Congratulations to these two! At least when they go to Hawaii together, they’ll both be there with the same agenda.
That’s crap…why do they have the lottery? Isn’t this the “Ironman World Championships”?
Ok…put away your flame torches. I’M JUST KIDDING! See my MANY posts on this subject. I’m with SAC on this one. Just waiting for the Jackass. Of course the Jackass of the Week award has already been sewn up by MaineTriGuy for his threads on the 16:59 IMers.
Congrats to both of them. I hope their Kona experience is awesome.
No couple deserves it more then these two as they are dedicated to triathlons through and through. Keep your eyes on that Martin kid as he is fast and Tara is no slouch. Hell they should make a reality t.v. show out of their training, this would help pay their food bills which will sky rocket in joint training. Congrats guys you will kick a%$.
Let this be a lesson to the rest of you - Kevin may lull you into thinking that he’s your friend until you share some news with him and next thing you know your news is plastered all over the internet!
I wonder if this is the first time a lottery winner has already had the place tickets and condo booked prior to the announcement. (Thanks to Support Crew for your condo suggestions!)
This is going to be Tara’s first IM and she’s already nervous about it. But she’s looking forward to the journey of the training and we’re lucky enough to have lots of people in our triclub to train with and learn from.
Hope to see the rest of you in Kona. (And/or Honolulu the weekend before - I’m handicapping myself to give sportsdoc a fighting chance…)
