Confused: does Peterborough have slots for IMLP and IMC?

I can only find info on slots given out at Muskoka for IMLP and IMC. No mention is given to Peterborough having any slots for IMLP or IMC but i seem to remember hearing this was the case from several sources.

Is this something that never happened, used to happen but doesn’t any more, or can i still quallify for IMLP/IMC at Peterborough 1/2IM in the spring?

If anyone has any info on this i would appreciate it as well as any comment on how difficult it is to secure a spot (is it AG podium?)

a) Peterborough is in the summer (i.e. July)

It looks like they used to have slots. I think they only ever had IM Canada slots.

Muskoka is your best bet. When I was up there in 2004 IMC slots (I believe 40 ) were relatively easy to get. Especally if you’re in the larger AG’s. IMLP slots were a lot harder to get since they only have 20.

Yes, you used to be able to qualify for IMC at Peterborough but it looks like that’s no longer the case - no spots given this year. There are also no more Wisconsin spots at Muskoka.

2004-2006
Muskoka - 40 Canada, 20 Placid, 20 Florida, 20 Wisconsin
Peterborough - 20 Canada

2007
Muskoka - 40 Canada, 20 Placid, 20 Florida (no Wisconsin spots)
Peterborough - no spots given out

This is confirmed by the Ironman Canada website and also the NAS qualifiers listing at http://www.nasports.com/qualify/imnaqual.php

Not sure what happened to the spotrs at Peterborough. However, it was by far one of the “easiest” places to get either a IMLP or IMC spot. It as so deep in the season( race is early July and onlt two weesk out from IMLP) and many had set plans, that in certain AG’s the person that got the spot was the person that showed up at the roll-down and even then they would have spots left over and they would put those all together and put them in other AG. ie -they were almost giving the spots away.

They never had LP slots (it is 2 weeks prior) only IMC slots. They didn’t have any this year (likely due to the 25th IMC and the fact that there are already huge numbers of people in the race). It will be interesting to see if they go back to offering them next year. I don’t think that it is a big draw to the race since there were close to 600 in the half this year and, as Fleck said, the slots used to roll down a long way. The bonus for those of us in the area used to be that you could plan on racing IMC if you wanted to and then just go and race Peterborough and get in without worrying about online entry or sending someone to register you a year in advance.

I told you to go down to the horse show grounds…there is always the multisports.com $1250 option
