Computrainers and Polar HRMs (coded vs. non)

From computrainer website:

The plug-in Polar® Wireless Interface RacerMate currently offers is supplied to us by Polar Electro, makers of the “Polar® Heart Rate Monitor”. This plug-in receiver requires special ROM software if it is to be used with coded transmitters that is not found in the CompuTrainer system. Therefore, it can ONLY be used with non-coded chest strap transmitters

The interface is currently out of stock, but the last time I had LT testing done I remember wearing my transmitter, a coded one, and I thought the the guy doing the testing was using the computrainer provided polar interface. I’ve got a S710 and I just figured out the T31 non-coded transmitters don’t work with S-series.

what is everybody else doing?

I have both the 810 and 720- the 810 will work with both coded and non coded transmitters, the 720 only works with coded transmitters.

I thought I would same results you are having with your 810 with my 710.

What really weird and is making my head hurt is this;

http://support.polar.fi/PKBSupport.nsf/ALLDOCS/42256C2B001E0F6A42256DAC0031ACED?OpenDocument

It shows both 710 and 810 as ONLY working with coded transmitters.

I had problems with my coded transmitter with the CT so I bought one of the uncoded ones. It never worked very well and the strap sucks, so I just wear my Polar wrist receiver (S510) and don’t worry about having HR on the Computrainer screen. It’s the lazy man’s solution…
