Hi All,
Two **Computrainer **Questions:
Is the Computrainer IM Arizona course supposed to be 56 miles that one rides twice? I thought it was a three loop course and thought the Computrainer version would be the same. The version loaded on a friend’s says its 56 miles and I assume you are to ride it twice. Is it possible to start a ride in the middle of a course? Example: I want to ride the hilly middle section of an IM course, do I have to start at the beginning or can I advance it to some mile marker along the way?
If you are referring to the IM AZ RCV it is one lap, or 37 miles. You can start anywhere on any RCV course by hitting Ctrl+G and entering the mile you want to start in the drop down box. In order to ride hills on the IM AZ course you must first insert the IM OZ RCV Hope this helps.
That CT course is from when the course was only 2 loops. There’s a newer version out there somewhere that is a 3 loop version.
On the load course screen there’s an area to enter “Start from”. It’s right above the “Race Now” button.
Thanks for the info. In the ‘Start From’ box how do I need to format it? I tried say 50 but it only went to 2/10 of a mile. Do I need to input ‘mile 50’ or ‘50 miles’?
As far as the newer course, I will see if can buy it from Computrainer.

Make sure that in the options set up box you have miles selected and then enter the value where you want to start and hit enter. Entering 50 will take you to 50 miles. If it is taking you to .20, a visit to the Racermateinc forum will get you an immediate troubleshooting response from Ray. You could have an older version of the software. Hang in there, this is the fun part, once it’s calibrated, it’s all sit & sweat!
I dunno man, that third “climb” up the beeline started looking like a “climb”
If you didn’t do the race in November, they did extend the turnaround a few hundred yards up the Beeline, to account for getting rid of the bridge turnaround in town, so it’s slightly more uphill at the far turn. It’s still not a hill, and no hill training is needed whatsoever. Someone above said it, set it to flat and ride for 112.
As others have said, there is a correct 3 loop version out there. I got it off racermate’s website, so maybe your friend just downloaded the old version a while ago? I have it saved at home if you can’t find it let me know.
I never could get the starting in the middle part to work… however I do think it’s valuable to do the whole course because despite what others have said, there is a very distinct different feeling between the completely flat and the 2-3% long grade. I thought the computrainer did an amazing difference in reflecting that feeling. It is only a couple of gears, but it’s important to note that and not try to chase the same speed on what you think/feel should be completely flat. It’s also good to feel just how fast you can get going downhill the other direction. I can’t believe the number of people my fat ass passed going downhill that were just sitting up and coasting like it wasn’t costing them anything.
I hesitate to recommend doing the whole course on the computrainer (because I never even made it through one loop indoors) but it would be valuable to go do a long ride outside, then come indoors and ride the first part of the course to the summit on tired legs and see how that 2-3% grade feels then. Trust me it’s not flat. Easier than most courses you’ll ever find (except Florida) but definitely not flat.
