Two of the holdout reasons I have a PC are for using Computrainer and my Polar HRM software. I actually use a Mac for most of my personal computing, but I have my work PC around just in case. Now, I’m considering switching to a Mac for my work computer, but I still need to run Ctrainer/Polar HRM software.
I know neither package was written for the Mac, but has anyone tried running these on virtualized environments with a Windows OS on Mac?
The Polar software will run under VirtualPC, but there’s an Auzzie that developed software for Polar/Mac… I think you will need a different IR receiver, as the Polar does only recognize by PC…
Unfortunatly, the CompuTrainer will not run under VirtualPC… I don’t know if you have any other solution here, but to run it on an old cheap PC… (sucks, I know…)
I’m using a Mac myself, but with the issues with Polar and CompuTrainer, I actually broke down and bought an lesser Pc to be used for these two app’s only…
You can buid a reasonable PC with everything you’d need to run those two apps for under $300. I think you can even get the bottom-of-the-line Dell with monitor/keyboard/etc. for under $500. That’d be the way to go in my book.
