I decided to give compression tights a try to help with my recovery while sleeping and traveling. I noticed that for ny of the popular name brand compresion tights the price is 95- 140 dollars… a little pricey. So I did a simple Google search for “Compresion Tights” and came up with a few results I didn’t previously think of… medical compresion “panty hose” for around 35 dollars a pair.
Has anyone else tried this route? since i’m only going to be using these to sleep and travel in I don’t particularly care if they look super cool… just wondering if the 2xzooins model had any advantages for an athlete as opposed to the medical tights made for pregnant woman and old men.
Walmart Compression Shocks = Golden (for the price) $3.99
.
Agreed. For just compression, I’ve used drug store socks (Futuro, I think) for recovery/travel with great effect. I use my SLS3 socks for long runs, and think they’re helpful (placebo effect???), and prefer them because they’re more of a wicking fabric and have some cushion to them.
I’d like to find some tights to try, though I’ll probably break down and get Zoots or 2XU.
I have coolmax 20-30mmhg socks from Allegro Medical ($15 a pair). They are great for after workout and sleeping in. The feet are too thick for running in, and then there’s the fact that they look like tube socks. For workouts I use 2XU sleeves ($50)…hoping the thinner tech fabric and silver “X” pattern on the back makes them look less orthopedic.
For recovery, go for higher compression 20-40mmhg than for racing/training.
If you look at companies such as Bauerfeind in Germany - their main business is actually medical compression clothing. So I would guess that the medical pants are just as good as the sports pants minues the moisture absorbing material.
We just did a test with 8 different manufacturers of compression socks with very different results. Compression clothing to be followed.
Shoot me an email to info@trinited.com if you want to see more from the test.

Why don’t you post the test? That seems like some interesting sfuff.
Hi Azby, the test is very extensive. We have tested 10 different models from 8 different companies for 8 categories each…I am not sure how well that comes accross in here.
We have actually just finished the test now and I am writing the report on the last pair tonight. So the test will be complete tomorrow.
I will send it around then.
Best,

I use the medical compression socks as well, they work well.
Any word on the test summary yet?
Sorry folks, we had one company added a little later and wanted to give them a chance to be included in the results. I just finished writing the summary and will post it tomorrow after translating it (its gonna be German and English).
To all, who have sent me a message with their email address to info@trinited.com - you will receive the test tomorrow…
Best,
Till
Till,
thanks for the test. It was very interesting to see the different strength of the companies, especially during the different climate conditions.
