I have a older trek that I wanted to upgrade a lil. It had a cheap bontrager triple crank, so I got a new 10sp crank and 10sp double front derailer. The bike is a nine speed and Im having problems with clearence with the width of the chain (chain rub in highest gear). Bfr I go out and spend more money, can I use a 10 sp chain on a nine speed cassette and will that solve my problem?
Thanks!!

in what gear is the chain rubbing? 53/2x or 39/2x?
is the front derailleur adjusted properly? you can easily adjust it so there is no chain rub if it’s not set up properly. The 10 speed front derailleur is slightly narrower than a 9 speed one, but it should not really be bad enough to cause chain rub on its own. A 10sp chain will work with a 9sp cassette, but there is no point, since 9sp chains are cheaper, and more durable than 10sp chains.
