Comparable rides to Dual/P2sl/S32

Okay dammit so the guy I was going to get the Dual from changed his mind today and freaked when he saw what a replacement carbon was going to cost him…back to square one.

Other than the Felt S32, what other options do I have as close to the Dual/S32 as I can get? The S32 fit me like an abosolute GLOVE with the saddle in the front position on a 58, but the LBS won’t sell me a frame only.

I’m open to lots of different rides, but want to know where else I can look that will closely mirror these frames. Thanks all…and of course if you have a 58 please PM me!

Go check out the P1, almost identical to the dual and alot more aero then felts entry level bike. I have had mine since feb and love it. You can make a few minor upgrades to it and its race ready. I love ripping past carbon bikes in races now. http://forum.slowtwitch.com/gforum.cgi?do=post_view_flat;post=2762522;page=1;sb=post_latest_reply;so=ASC;mh=50;

The P1 isn’t sold as a frame only or I would have it man trust me! I was begging my dealer to sell me one, but they won’t. I even contacted Cervelo to confirm b/c the web site says it’s available as a frame only, but the web admin guy apparently did that by accident. I think the P1 looks killer, but I’m not paying $1,700 for a bike when all I want is a frame and fork:( Thanks though…it’s a sexy beast.

I did find a 56 P1 on CraigsList, but need a 58 or I will have way too much drop and need a 200mm stem;)

That gives me an idea…maybe I will put up a thread to see who might be interested in buying a P1 kit? Hmmmmm, thanks for the idea!

I read somewhere that QR has made a comeback, maybe you can find something with them. Shame about the Dual, I’ve had mine for 4 years and love it.

QR bikes don’t fit me across the line. The drop on those bikes is ridiculous. I think you have to be made out of rubber to ride one if you are in the bigger frames like I am.

the closest thing to the p2sl (and I don’t think the S32 even counts) is the Leader frames, which you can buy on ebay or from their website.

lower quality stuff, but they seem to have copied the cervelo shapes reasonably well and might actually be aerodynamic, and they work and have reasonable customer service according to others here.

otherwise, trek used to make an aluminum TTX right? do they still?

I forgot to say I’m not looking at Cervelo for aero Jack…it’s not a big concern. I’m looking at it for fit the the Leader’s have way too much drop for me…have tested one and it’s impossible w/o tons of spacers and an upright stem. Fit is my #1 goal here, frame shaping doesn’t even enter the equation.

Alum Equinox is also a fit option, but I only want a black or white one so that leaves me at 2007 or 2008 models…don’t like red and Trek is all red crazy the past 2 years.

well crap if you don’t care about aero that opens up a world of cheaper possibilities =)
.

PLEASE let me know! The stack and reach of the S32 and Dual appear to be spot on each other. I ride extremely steep, but can’t do inhuman shit like 15cm of drop. I would take a damn steel frame if it matched that S32 in the forward seatpost position!

What else?

just put a forward seatpost on a road bike?

use some tall aero elbow pad spacers?

I’d look for an old TI or steel tri frame with tri geometry maybe? smaller tubes are more aero =)

I’m on a road bike with a forward post, but it handles like shit and the saddle won’t go forward enough…need about 3cm more forward.

I do NEED a steep STA frame. I love my Merlin road bike, but she has reached an impass for effective TT positioning. I’m on a 135 stem and need about 2-3cm more…it’s not cutting it.

c’mon Jack you are the pimp daddy of frameology!

Really? My LBS was going to sell me one for 1000 or complete for 1400. Stay away from leader bikes. I bought one waited for 3 weeks finally got ahold of them and they told me that they didnt have my size.

A P1? What shop? I’m going to call them and see if they will do the same!!

Is that what you were referring to?

I got a Dual frame off ebay… might be able to find something there or Craigslist.

Otherwise as you thought - buy the P1 bike, sell the components on ebay for a profit

Yea had considered it, but damn I looked it up and might get $400 for all said gear…to pay $1,400 for an aluminum frame is extremely salty. With tax the P1 is almost 1900 out the door. I think I will probably just wait until the end of the season when the market is flooded with bikes…and the P1 owners decide to upgrade.

I’m sorry if I didn’t make this clear, but I want a frame only. I contacted RnA on a frame only, but no dice. I ran across these over a month ago…but thanks.

I have enough bike components to open 2 local bike shops…another complete bike would be about as useful as a screened door on a submarine and as cost effective as Congress.

Did you try the soloist out, 1200 for frame fork you should be able to get it down a bit.

I had no idea the Soloist was a steep STA bike! Ok I’m checking it out thanks!
