Compact cranks? what are they?

Is it nothing more than installing smaller chainrings on the front?? Or is there more to it?

yes
.

thanks!!!

You’re the best!!!

They have a 110mm bolt pattern rather than 130mm. The smallest rings you can get on a conventional crank is 50/38.

Thanks–who makes (and sells) them??

Stronglight, Ritchey, FSA, Campanolo. Not sure of Shimano has come out with a set yet?

The Ritchey’s are probably the best price/value. Stronglight is also a good price but you then have to purchase their square taper BB or get ahold of one of the older style Ultegra’s.

Thanks
.

I thought compact cranks were used to open up those small make-up cases…
