Coming back, IMLP recovery

I am doing much better with my recovery from IM Lake Placid that I have in my previous four tries. I took advantage of a little cloud cover yesterday to take a very pleasant 20.4 mph hour solo ride for an hour. I haven’t been able to do things like for at least a month after the race in previous years.

Swimming is nearly back to pre race speed, though running is a little tough. I am running 20 to 30 seconds per mile slower still, and can’t go over five miles in our Florida heat yet. I am already plotting future races, something I can’t usually stomach at this point in the recovery process.

For those who are snickering, I want to say there is no proof I am recovering better becaused I “raced” so slowly.

How are the other Lake Placid warriors doing with their recovery?

Hello,

I wanted a break after a longuish spring season (for me). I hardly did anything the first week (a couple bike rides, short run at the end of the week with a buddy of mine).

This week I swam a bit, rode a bit, ran a bit. My resting HR was higher than usual until this morning (to be expected). I went for an easy 13-mile run @ 7:30 then 7:00 and didn’t crack 140 HR so things seem to be falling back into place.

I’ll probably take it easy again next week. I am considering going to Nationals but I didn’t make a final decision.

Cheers,
Alex
