Columbia, SC -- Looking for training partner

In Columbia till Saturday and looking to run and swim.

Email me jut dot Harris at gmail dot com

Going to stop at cycle center tomorrow.

When I live in Columbia we used to run out at Ft. Jackson. Don’t know if they let you do that anymore.

Lots of great triathletes in the area. Good training. Inlaws have a place on the lake and until recently lived about 90 mins away and often trained at raced in Columbia.

Great running at this park. Harbison State Forest Park

Depend on where you are staying, there are several YMCA’s. Be prepared for bad lap swim schedules with kids and camps. Downtown YMCA pool is poor choice. Seems like it was a 20 yard or maybe 25 yard, but few lanes.

NorthWest YMCA is nice and I never had an issue swimming there, but it was always at odd times when most people were working.

Also several master’s groups swimming at various pools. Swam at Columbia College once.

Cycle center is good choice. There are some or used to have some organized open water swims. Temp of Lake Murray is nice as I was swimming there over the weekend.

Also contact Strictly Running.

5:30 am master’s swim at the Irmo Y (I think that’s Northwest) on Thu and Fri. Good people there! Also, if you are going to run on Saturday morning, go to the Harbison State Forest at 5:40 am…main group shows at 7, but the crazies start at 5:40. You can run with a group from 9 to 30 miles depending on who shows and how far you want to go. Great trails and nice people there. Used to live in Irmo and really miss the training there.
