Cold Blooded Bruyneel or Monday Morning Quarterback

Hey, all,

I’ve heard from sources that Posta/Discovery is we’ve got to win everything all the time operation. There was a particularly unflattering write up by the Jonathon Vaughters in Cycle Sport and who used to ride for Postal and Credit Agricole.

Check out what Bruyneel says about Dave Z’s crash on Eursport:

BLUNT BRUYNEEL

http://img1.eurosport.com/imgbk/cyclng/all/md-i191182.jpg A skipped chain to blame? That’s what we announced regarding David Zabriskie’s fall, but the man right behind him - Ivan Basso - isin’t so sure. “I think he just simply slipped, from the front wheel,” the Italian CSC leader told reporters.

Johan Bruyneel, Zabriskie’s team manager for four uneventful years at US Postal, cast a dark foreboding before the stage:

“Stylistically, he’s the best in the world. But,” Bruyneel told French newspaper L’Equipe, “he won’t keep his yellow jersey for long, you’ll very quickly see why. David has never known how to ride in a peloton.”

Dave is 26 this is his first Tour and he’s totally awesome. As they say in baseball, his comment “lacks class.”

Best,

Robert

I don’t see whats so cold blooded about it. It was said before the stage and it was one managers experience of a rider after 4 yrs. Just like what any boss would say about an employee after years of working with them being ‘uneventful’. And besides he was talking about the peloton and not a TTT - a totally different skill set. Even if he wasn’t referring to Stage 4, he’s letting his thoughts be known why he feels his team is better without him or doesn’t need him.

This may be the voice of dissent, but its funny how this forum loves the anti-mainstream only to find themselves mainstream here. A non-Lance US rider riding a Cervelo?!? There is so much wood around here for DZ I could build a house.

JB just wants to answer ahead of time any questions about DZ “getting away” from USPS. the answer being of course he wanted to have a career different from that of Hincapie. and don’t think for a minute JB didn’t want to get in DZ’s head a bit.
