Coffee Shop Injured Reserve

I’ve been laughing at all you suckers for the last 2 months. Bunch of broken down old farts.

Then I go to the concussion doctor for my “final” visit so the lawyer can get to settling the car wreck claim. He starts asking questions, wife starts chiming in, I start thinking of stuff. He looks at me and tells me not to get too worried, I can expect to keep getting better for 2 years post concussion. What? I thought I was better.

Nope, I had just gotten used to things. He put me back on Adderall. When he first prescribed it I was skeptical. But this guy is one of the best concussion guys in the city, professor at a couple med schools, blah, blah, blah.

I am taking a low dose (5 mg). Took it this morning for the first time in probably 3 months. An hour or so later, I feel like a completely different person. Guess we will keep following up with him.

I saw a couple people mention tinnitus. After 20 or 25 years you don’t even notice it.

Achilles surgery coming up on Friday. Tendon has thickened to over 3x for around 25mm just above the heel. I’m having a minimally invasive procedure(Tenex) but even that is 3 months of PT and waiting before I can start running again. I had thrown every treatment alternative and the kitchen sink at the problem without progress so I’m feeling like getting this over with is the right call. As with others, this problem is certainly repetitive stress related; lots of running in an(successful) attempt to get back to Boston mary. I’ll have just enough time when/if I’m cleared to run to do a modest training arc before the race in April. I might be doing some wishful thinking here..

I’ve been gifted these precious pearls of wisdom by someone who watched the thing play out; “You danced, it’s time to pay the fiddler”.

Try 50 years, and I hadn’t noticed it until I read your line here..)-; It is just like background ocean noise 24/7, and I wonder if there is some endgame where you just cannot hear anymore. Does get louder over time too, perhaps AI will find a cure for it someday…

I think that’s just called death.

That really should be the title of this thread. Injured reserve almost connotes we’re going to return to the game some day.

Long day. Get to the hospital 30 minutes early for 11:30 checking Get checked in. About to get called back and Anesthesiologist didn’t like my EKG. I got it on Monday wasn’t read until today. Luckily the ortho office got me at 11:07 an appointment literally across the street at 11:30 with a cardiologist. It was inferolateral repoloarization abnormality. Cardiologist cleared me, said it was athletes heart or maybe a bruise on my heart. Stress test in my future. Surgery was long, 2 or 3 screws and a plate in my hand. Finally left the hospital a little after 7pm.

Wow - what a day. Hope your hand heals quickly and the stress test comes out clean.

Just got a phone call recording from the cardiologist reminding me that I have my echo stress test next Wednesday. Typically on Tuesday’s I do a 75 minute sweet spot workout.

Is it ok to do that? Or should i rest up for it. I can call the office but figured slow twitch probably knows.

Postpone it til Wednesday morning before the test and tell them, hey, this is what I’m gonna do to myself anyway.

I don’t believe you need to rest up for it. They’re going to max your HR out regardless and just want to see your cardiac response.

Just had an emergency root canal. Tooth started bothering me on Sunday and got progressively worse. He said it was a mush of dead nerve tissue and fluid to drain.

45 min in and out of the chair: fastest $1,800 I’ve ever spent I think. FML

Just wait until your dog needs one.

Sorry to hear, that sounds like an awful procedure.

Decided to call the doctors office. They laughed at my concerns, in a nice way. They said not a competition. If I was out of shape the test would be shorter, but no need to rest.

Make sure you show up in a Finisher t-shirt and old Bib Number.

Remember, the test doesn’t count if you don’t push to the point of vomiting.

Hah! Thankfully we have good insurance for out dog. We pay about $800 a year but have definitely gotten our money’s worth out of it. Between his recent Epilepsy and his mange two years ago its well-worth it. But dental for dogs…damn idk if I wanna go that route. We get 80% of everything back thatsd not routine, preventative, or exam fees.

Find a way to log it into Strava, too
